Once again, from all over the USA this time (often times around the world) aspiring Strength Coaches and Biz Owners traveled to The Underground Strength Gym via planes, trains and autombiles.

They learned the blue print and the exact system athletes go through when they become members of The Underground Strength Gym here in the dirty Jerzee.

They went through a workout to give themselves a lil’ taste of what it feels like, and, there is no better way to learn than by getting your hands dirty and doing it!

Here’s Part 1 with several more parts to come….

This crew of guys who attended were seriously un-real! Their energy and enthusiasm to learn more and to spread the word to other athletes and aspiring fitness enthusiasts was unrivaled.

I am beyond humbled and the next courses will be announced shortly with a BIG announcement to be made HERE.

Stay tuned because the next highlight video is with the Coaches taking athletes through a workout using something they called ‘The Sandbag Gauntlet’ – it was Downright AWESOME!

If you didn’t make it the Underground Strength Coach Certification and want to learn my system, try my Private Membership Site or The Underground Strength System.

Follow your passion and Forget your fear!

Crush it!

You hear that tune in the background of this video?

Watch the video and read on, I’m gonna tell you about a dream and how you can achieve your dreams as well, but first, let go of your fear….

Can you FEEL the energy from that video or what baby!?!?!

That was the latest Underground Strength Coach Certification and it rocked the freakin house SON!

Now, onto that story I was gonna tell you about…

It sounds corny, but hang tight with me, it’s the truth.

When I was 11 or 12, before I even started lifting weights, my older brother was HUGE into working out. His entire bedroom had barbells and dumbbells, you know the fancy ones with the spin collars??

Finishing a workout with heavy sled and prowler training is a top notch way to develop legs of steel and high octane conditioning.

Mental toughness can be trained by pushing the pace, cutting rest periods, going heavier, racing against others and doing an extra set when everyone else quits.

You can finish your workout with the sled and prowler or you can hit them hard and create an entire lower body workout with these two training tools.

Check out the end of a workout that our athletes went through AFTER going head to head, toe to toe with the Sandbag Gauntlet…

The Coaches who attended the Underground Strength Licensing Course received an entire system for training clients.

It’s funny, people think that if they use the same training tools as someone else that the results will be the same.

Not true.

I use barbells all the time. So do the guys at westside barbell. But the difference is they squat, bench and deadlift 700 + lbs, when I am nowhere near those numbers.

The difference? They have a training science and system down pat to create beasts who are stronger than Mack Trucks!

What are your thoughts on training tools, training programs and systems?

Looking forward to your comments below.

Man, last weekend rocked with The Lost Secrets of Strength Seminar with Joe DeFranco hitting up The Underground Strength Gym for the first time ever. Stay tuned for the release of this seminar on DVD, it’s jam packed with amazing info on strength, business, motivation, lifestyle and straight talk like you’ve never heard.

I just dug up this video from late winter on some beastly post workout prowler and sled sprints, it was freezing outside but these crazy athletes requested it! Check it…

That prowler has kicked more ass than Randy Couture I tell you!

And now that the warm weather is here, our outdoor training is in full effect, and yours should be as well.

Regardless of the weather though, you need some Underground in your training.

This is my blue print for training athletes right HERE.

You want some? Come get some!

Tire flipping isn’t for everyone.

Strongman training isn’t for everyone.

A SOLID foundation MUST be built before you can dive into strongman training.

There are several different techniques for tire flips, and as you’ll see below, we use a sumo stance, drive up at an angle and focus on power cleaning the tire using a knee lift and running THROUGH the tire.

Running through the tire, driving at a 45 degree angle and using a knee lift gets you away from the dangerous curl position.

Check out the beasts digging into some strongman training with tire flipping.

Other benefits of strongman trianing, specifically the tire flip:

- Hand Strength

- Wrist Strength

- Leg Strength

- Back Strength

- Mental Toughness

The benefits of hand, grip and wrist strength are WAY underrated with tire flipping.

Next week we will begin more strongman training and strongman medleys to prepare for our summer strongman contests.

These are super intense and VERY competitive.

How do you use strongman training in your own workout or with clients?

Looking forward to your comments!

Crush it!

Dhani Jones used to train with my homeboy Joe DeFranco….in a storage closet and sometimes outdoors on a Football field, flipping 600 + lb tires and throwing around Kegs.

Today, Dhani Jones has his own TV show and “Tackles the Globe” while competing in the respective country’s sport, many of which are combat sports.

Check out some footage of Dhani below, and, notice how much of his preparation for each sport requires some unorthodox methods – combining these Underground methods with his athleticism and SERIOUS strength, he is kicking some ass around the globe….

Wrestling, Sambo, Muay Thai, Stone Training, Rugby – these are ALL brutal sports.

I have connected with many Rugby players from the UK and have also had the pleasure of meeting UK Strength Coaches as they attended my Underground Strength Coach Certification – I have NEVER met a weak person from the UK. Seems to me they ALL love serious, no-nonsense, Underground training.

The lesson to be learned from the above videos?

Be Strong and Be Athletic…

This means using bodyweight training methods, odd objects, participating in various sports and getting STRONGER on a regular basis.

Now Get Busy!

PPS: Some kick ass videos coming your way and a BIG announcement on May 25th, stay tuned :)

PPPS: Dhani’s Strength Coach while on the east coast was Joe DeFranco. Joe & I recently recorded our Lost Secrets of Strength Seminar so stay tuned for this release, it was an un-freakin-real mix of training, business, mindset and lifestyle!

At the end of a LONG day at The Underground Strength Gym, Canada’s Pro Strongman, Paul Vaillancourt, stopped by the gym today with his entourage.

With plans of stopping by for 5 PM they got lost in the Dirty Jerzee and enjoyed some scenery in what some call the ghetto, others call the projects – not a fun place to be driving through with a mini van, a fauly GPS and not a clue as to where the heck you’re going!

We talked biz and training for 10 minutes and I was itching to train.

Before my clients rolled up I cranked out 5 heavy sets of 5 reps in the T Bar Row with 5 plates.

I call this “chunking”, something I detail fully in my REAL Man Muscle Building System.

I was planning on cranking a workout for a solid 15 minutes when I shut down, but I didn’t want to be rude to Paul and his entourage of strongman beasts, so I told them, I have a missed call from my wife AND a voice mail – we have 15 minutes, let’s train.

They ALL jumped in.

UP went the stereo and I cranked some serious tunes and the race was on!

The energy was SICK!

Music cranking all the way, chalk and HEAVY dumbbells were starting to get thrown around.

Paul rocked out some 150 lb snatches and clean and presses with the globe dumbbell, which is WAY tougher than a traditional dumbbell because the handle is bent and it doesn’t revolve in your hand, making the grip factor 20 X tougher.

We all hit 2 or 3 all out sets of the dumbbell snatch / clean & press combo and then we moved onto endless variations of pull ups, every set was with a 20 lb chain around the neck!

In 15 minutes we were done!

Paul and his crew were lovin’ it.

I told them that I don’t BS about these 15 minute workouts.

They responded how much they loved it and how they couldn’t see one area of the body NOT getting worked!

Some video footage soon to come, BUT, the ENTIRE workout will be reserved for my inner circle crew over HERE.

Stay tuned for the video footage!

When someone tells me they need more than 15 minutes to get the job done, I invite them to train with me and I’ll show them how to get BUSY in 15 minutes.

Having a full time job, a gym, an internet biz and MOST importantly, being a Father & a Husband – time is limited, and I tear shit up when 15 minutes if available.

Crush it!

Just a lil’ highlight of the beasts who stopped by the day before our Lost Secrets of Strength Seminar (coming soon on DVD).

Dudes cruised in from around the country as far as Cali!

They just wanted to watch our Friday crew train but the Underground bug snagged them into the workout and the energy was so damn high we took over the entire parking lot!

This ENTIRE workout is being posted in detail at http://UndergroundStrengthCoach.com along with hundreds of other videos, articles and audio interrogations!

Check the vid…

This kind of training packs on the muscle and strength like no tomorrow.

But it’s not enough to just be strong, you MUST be “in shape” which means having the ability to sustain all types of training which is why we have a HUGE emphasis on using bodyweight / calisthenics to improve physical fitness to an even greater level!

What are your thoughts on training for overall fitness and maintaining a healthy balance between strength, power and conditioning?

Post your thoughts, comments and answers below!

Kill it!

Woops, almost forgot about this BEAUTY thanks to my insane schedule :)

Check out this beautiful vintage gym in a south jersey basement.

I snagged about 600 lbs of vintage strength weights from this gentleman. I need to clean them up a tad and my son will be getting 4 or 5 VERY vintage York barbells for him to use.

Could there be anything more amazing than some old york weights in your hands? OK, never mind, don’t answer that question.

Anyway, check this amazing video, and if you love vintage strength, you will REALLY love the vintage strength system I stumbled upon from the early 1900′s. It’s awesome, period. Check it HERE.

I also came across some VERY vintage strength equipment over the weekend at my buddy’s place, Skiba’s Barbell Club. Wait till that video comes out, it’ll give you goose bumps I tell ya!

If you have a passion for strength I know you will be blown away with what I found inside The Russian Lion Power Course HERE.

Stay tuned for more strength training, muscle building, and who knows what other adventures in strength I’ll be bringing you! It NEVER gets dull around here that’s for sure!

Peace!

Your legs are your foundation.

Wanna be stronger, faster, bigger, speed up your metabolism and increase full body strength?

The answer is to stimulate the body through TOUGH leg training. There are no two ways about it or around it.

Recently, my homeboy Joe D inspired me to begin doing what he coined “Prowler Suicides”

Unfortunately, the Prowler Suicide Challenge emerged and our athletes were shocked to say the least, check out the vid…

Every group cranked races of The Prowler Suicide Challenge in an effort to win the rare t shirts from The Lost Secrets of Strength Seminar (DVD’s will be available late June, stay tuned!)

We take lower body training VERY seriously.

Sleds and prowlers are regulars in our training regime.

When I was younger I was obsessed with lower body training.

I used to copy some crazy leg workouts that were fabricated in the magazines, and it wasn’t odd for me to do an hour of squats, an hour of leg presses, etc.

I would end up doing 30 – 40 sets of squats and leg presses! Craziness I tell ya :)

If you want to stimulate the release of more growth hormone you need to crank some serious leg training.

In turn, your entire body will reap the rewards and benefits of intense lower body work.

What was my lower body workout like today?

I was cranking heavy barbell zercher squats and then my gym neighbor asked me to help him move his truck. So I wound up pushing around the parking lot his 1970′s old pick up truck, GREAT for the legs, upper back, shoulders and triceps!

Want more training methods to develop muscle and strength that shocks others, check this out!

Peace!
