12 Coaches hit The Underground last week to become Certified Underground Strength Coaches.
They were highly motivated, strong as hell and BIG Time dedicated.
We hit 2 workouts every day, skipped lunch on Day 2 with NO complaints and they were roarin’ for more.
Sounds tough? Not if you love to train and live and breathe this stuff!
Look how much fun we had, check the Vids:

Sometimes we have new athletes training at The Underground Strength Gym and I see fear in their eyes. They are in a NEW World and have never been pushed to these new areas.
I see the Fear in their eyes clear as day…..
- FEAR against a heavier weight
- FEAR against pushing into a pain zone
- FEAR against the feeling of throwing up
Let me give you some advice:
Don’t FEAR the pain, CHASE it! Stare it dead in the eyes and say “F**K YOU!!!”
Go for broke when you lift, NO limits style!
Unless you are truly busted up with injuries or have a serious limitation you need to stop fearing the Pain.
Once you begin chasing it, you stop feeling the pain because you no longer view it as pain, instead, you view it as pleasure.
It becomes something you are numb to and something you fall in love with all at the same time.
And…. NOT ironically, you will become more successful in your life, in ALL areas.
I’ve applied these rules to my life and overall business ventures and it helps me kick ass where countless others quit or stop short. It has been a HUGE driving force behind the success of all actions I take in life and business. If I always allowed Fear to control me, rather than let it work FOR me, I would never have experienced the success I am today.
I haven’t given you a workout in a while, so try this one on for size.
Monday should be a day of battle for you.
It starts the week off on the right note. Don’t be that typical gym nerd who does Chest every Monday.
Time to stop following the rules and “conventional wisdom”.
Here WE go, we’re in this battle together:
** Warm up thoroughly First **
1) Farmer Walk with Dumbbells or http://UndergroundKettlebells.com 5 x 200 ft.
2A) Handstand Push Ups 5 x Max Reps
2B) Rope Climb 5 x
3A) Squat Jumps 3 x 10
3B) Lunge Jumps 3 x 10
4A) Kettlebell Swings 4 x 10 reps
4B) Sprint x 100 Meters
Finish with some hard ab work.
I’ll be hitting this workout myself today.
Let’s rock this sh*t together.
Strength & Honor.
REMEMBER: Don’t fear the pain, chase it and DOMINATE.
Adjust movements above for your own strength levels.

I get tons of e mails asking me what to do with regards to starting their own warehouse gym and getting that kick ass vibe happening.
I wrote a HARSH article on Running a Warehouse Gym and pissed off many people in the process.
There is NO simple answer to exactly how to do it. But, there are certainly a few tips I can dish out.
- Be patient, yet Hustle your ass off! Success will not happen overnight, but, EVERY DAY you need to do at least ONE proactive thing to improve your training knowledge, business knowledge AND market your program.
This means you need to be in the trenches training yourself. You need to study the best business models out there so you can learn from those who have blazed a trail ahead of you. You need to connect with people and offer 100 times the value of anyone else so people start learning who you are, what you do and how you can help them.
NOTE: MOST people don’t hustle for jack sh*t. I had a guy attend one of my USC Certifications almost 1 year ago and only now he is starting to connect with local schools, youth sporting leagues, etc. Who needs to wait a year to take action? REMEMBER…I said EVERY DAY, not every 9 months!!
People FEAR working, not just in the Strength Coach Biz but in countless arenas. If you are ready and willing to outwork others you are MILES ahead of the rest.
Invest in your Education – You must soak up tons of knowledge and this means it costs money. When I attended Tony Robbins’ live event it was life changing! It wasn’t free, nor was it cheap. It was over $ 1,000. And it was expensive for a reason….. it was F**ING AWESOME!
I payed BIG Bucks for lunch with Gary Vaynerchuk. We did NOT eat lunch. We sat in a Taco Bell for 1 hour and went ballistic mapping out EXACTLY what I wanna do with my life and how to go about getting “IT”.
I needed clarity and I wanted to learn from people who were BIG time passionate about what they were doing and created a life from it.
Prepare for HATERS & Thieves- People will be PISSED at you for being successful. That is the straight up truth. Get thick skin, REALLY thick skin and learn to say “F**k You” to all the haters. Even your “friends” will hate you for being successful.
Some people who used to be my “friends” are long gone, pissed at me for kicking ass.
Others go to my web site and copy graphics and anything else they feel like cutting and pasting.
In the end, you’ll count your friends on your hand, maybe 2 hands… that’s a BIG MAYBE.
I work so freakin’ fast that the copy cats can’t even keep up with me.
Rules – Don’t let others dictate the rules of your gym. If I have someone slackin’ at my gym, I let them know. If the slacking continues, I remind them and talk with their parents. If no improvement is found, we remove them from the program.
I ALWAYS loved hardcore gyms and I hated it when there was a bad apple in there who spoiled the energy or interrupted the intensity. But, I had NO authority to get rid of them because I was simply a member.
If I had a sh*tty training partner I gave them the boot.
Owning your own Warehouse Gym allows you to make the Rules. Don’t be afraid to make the rules.
Train ONLY Who You Want to Train – If you don’t like training house wives, DON”T do it. Find a way to maximize how to train athletes. It’s tough, and even tougher if you sit around hoping they will come knocking on your door begging them to be trained.
I have told countless aspiring Strength Coaches to write down 10 people / places to connect with so they could allow those people to explore their gym, get a trial, give a FREE hands on seminar, etc.
Then, you take action with those TEN people / places. How many take action with 5 of these, let alone 10 of them? Less than 5 percent?
Regardless of you being a Strength Coach or not, you will dig these Videos below, from our April USC Certification, next one is in JUNE!
Till the next time….

Thursday night I was at a wrestling benefit in NYC on the Intrepid, an old aircraft carrier turned into a monster museum and Ball room.
The night was straight up AWESOME!
Before I move on, check out some of the videos from the wrestling that took place on the flight deck under the stars of NYC with the NYC skyline in the background. Oh yea, plus there were old fighter planes on deck all around us while world champion wrestlers banged heads and went at it!
It was amazing! The wrestling was VERY physical and that is ALWAYS great to see!
NOT shocking to me, many of these former wrestlers who were supporters of this fundraiser, called Beat the Streets, are now successful men in their line of work, many business owners or entrepreneurs of some sort.
The Wrestlers at the fundraiser were not just young wrestlers, but those who had been active in the sport several decades ago including Olympians from as far back as the 60′s! There were MANY millionaires in that room and coming from a wrestling background instills in you exactly how you need to work to accomplish BIG goals.
Wresting breeds a different type of man, that’s for sure.
Now…… onto the “Ugly Green Monster”….
I was talking to a friend of mine, a fellow wrestler and Business man, and we were talking about the training footage I offer you guys on my blog and at http://GetWrestlingStrength.com
And let me preface this….
What I’m about to say is NOT just for wrestlers, so don’t shut off your thinking cap and be close minded because I mentioned the word “wrestler”. This applies to ALL who want to kick ass in ALL areas of life.
Open your mind for this and remember, training is as much, if not, MORE mental then it is physical.
We spoke about how scientific based workouts aren’t always the best thing for a wrestler or ANY athlete fro that matter.
We spoke about “Facing the UGLY Green Monster” which in a nut shell means, going through hellish workouts.
Have you ever experienced that type of workout, where you go through hell and back to make it through a workout and it makes you MENTALLY tougher and nastier, not just for the moment, but for life?
It’s the workout that you NEVER forget because it was so brutal.
Sure, a wrestler needs to have all those physical traits I speak of so often:
- strength endurance
- speed endurance
- high octane conditioning
But, wrestlers and combat athletes in general NEED to go through a beat down every so often so they can get tougher and nastier. Being optimally trained won’t count for much if the mind is not ready and willing to go through a battle.
Check out some footage of The Blair Wrestling Team going through a hellish workout at The Underground.
And in the REAL world, there are plenty of athletic events that don’t go as planned and push the athlete beyond anything he imagined, so if the mind is ready, the body will follow suit.
These workouts certainly bend the rules: The technique might be a little off, the workout might not look pretty, but the athlete will begin to Think & FEEL like an animal because of the hell he went through in training.
When Coach Reeve told me he did 500 push ups the morning he won a state title in wrestling, I KNEW that according to science, this was NOT a good thing, but mentally, it gave him the edge over his competition and it made him MORE of animal than anyone else. In turn, Coach Reeve KNEW he was that much more of a Bad Ass compared to his opponent.
That mental edge is priceless!
If you’re just lifting to look good, then I’m the wrong Dude to be seeking out for information because that’s NOT what I’m about.
I’m here to turn you into an Animal in ALL areas of your life. It is NO shock that my ability to commit to success in all endeavors of my life come from my experiences of going through hellish workouts.
I NEVER wanted to lose my mental edge. NEVER.
If you’re like me and you fear losing the edge, that means you’re gonna through hell during some of these workouts. We can’t keep the mind in such a state by training the way “normal” people train.
You’re either with me or you’re not.
Decide right NOW.
Lead from the FRONT.

PS: A blend of science and a blend of going through Hell.
Most will be too scared. But….Some of you will live and breathe by this style of training AND living.
If you’re ready, then step up and go through The Underground Strength System

There are TOO many excuse makers out there.
Age tends to get the blame most often, or is it time that gets the blame?
Check this video below of Laird Hamilton and then read on with me….
Laird Hamilton has not allowed age to limit him, and since following him as a kid, I have noticed that he has only become stronger and better at everything he does. NO Excuses.
35 is around the corner for me, and I have changed things up to keep me “under the bar” where as most men I run into make excuses to keep their ass on the couch. The male species is becoming weaker and weaker and I see way too many following suit.
Heck, even kids nowadays are following suit. They sit on their ass all day and show less and less willingness to become a Warrior. With weak parents how can we expect the kids to have the desire for strength in mind and body?
This is why it’s always refreshing to me to work with wrestlers, they chase the pain and desire to be a Warrior. Certainly not the norm nowadays!
I’m sure you’ve run into those “men” who are glued to the couch – I can’t believe we just gave them the honor of being considered “men”.
Being a warrior you tend to wanna listen to your mind rather than your body, so even when you need to back off you still go balls to the wall with your workouts. Backing off takes mental discipline, so I have made many changes to my way of life, my training and my nutrition since I have gotten older, but none of them hold me back from being STRONGER as a Man!
As Bruce Lee said, “Absorb what is useful, discard what is not.”
My Changes:
1) 2 or 3 Intense workouts each week + 2 or 3 bodyweight workouts each week.
2) More variety in my training implements and NO machines: more kettlebells, more bodyweight, more dumbbells, more sandbags
3) Less loading of the spine via back squats and deadlifts
4) More soft tissue / recovery work
5) Less red meat, more fish, veggies & fruits
6) More movement / athletic training: sprinting, swimming, surfing, skateboarding, trail runs, mountain biking
7) More intuitive training: Remember, I’m a “Soul Lifter” – I simply love to lift and move so the rules of program design are completely modified for my own instincts
If you look at the above, in essence, I am becoming a kid again.
Less structure, more “playing” and movement and more overall athleticism. Being big without the ability to move or play with my kids is of NO use to me.
A smart man will adapt and adjust to his own needs and will not copy me.
A Man of NO Excuses will continue to train and go through the battle and still find a way for intensity. If you’re getting injured or feeling mental burn out this is your body’s way of sending you messages to back off, change it up but DON’T Stop altogether.
Always find a way to blaze a trial.
NEVER allow yourself to become the guy who tells a younger man, “I used to be just like you…..”
NO Excuses.
Shut the F**K Up and Make it Happen. Period.
Lead from the FRONT.

What can I say, I LOVE Kettlebell training.
I love the fact that I can throw them, press, row, squat, push and pull them. Use one or two kettlebells, take them with me for a workout at the park, in my backyard, garage or anywhere I damn near please….. well, you won’t see me doin’ this shizza at the Mall.
Anyway, here is a video, of probably 20-30 different Kettlebell exercises. I haven’t counted them yet, but check em’ out and get busy usin’ them so you can start getting STRONG!
