It was 5 years ago.... On April 1st, 2006, I uploaded my first ever video to you tube. I was running my training from my garage at the time, training ONLY Wrestlers & Football players, kinda like what I do now :) I was rockin' a self made web site and a simple blog because web designers back in the day were charging over $ 200 per hour. OUCH! My lack of knowledge with web sites never stopped me from trying my best to spread the word about my training methods. I still … [Read more...]

The John Welbourn Sandbag Challenge
What happens when a former NFL Lineman, 310 lb BEAST challenges you? You step up and go BEAST mode.... and then quickly realize BEAST is what I will always be chasing.... John Welbourn came up with a sandbag challenge from ground to overhead but because my shoulder is a bit tweaked now, we made a slight adjustment and went ground to shoulder. Thanks to John and his crew for the inspiration. This challenge was a good ol' gut check for mind and body. Test this for yourself and time … [Read more...]
High Rep Squats to Man UP!
Above, Greg Leistner squats 500 lbs for reps as Dad, Dr. Ken spots Sometimes you feel the need to kick your own ass.... At least I feel that way. I hope I am the norm and NOT the exception. I gotta make sure I still have that mental edge and pushing yourself into new territories of pain through training, especially high rep squats, will push you over the edge, trust me :) High rep squats are like the 'Man UP Medicine" - something about squats that cures almost everything in a WEAK Man. … [Read more...]

A recap of this Bodyweight BEAST Workout: 8 Rounds A) 10 reps of any bodyweight pulling movement B) 10 reps of any bodyweight pushing movement C) 5 reps of 30" box jumps I see my workouts on video and I am NEVER satisfied, NEVER impressed with myself. This is the journey of life and training, always climbing my personal Mt. Everest. My workouts MUST challenge me both mentally AND physically. I'm recommending you do the same, it's the only way you can REALLY grow as a person. If your … [Read more...]
Bodyweight Bodybuilding BEAST Workouts
Bodyweight training is in my blood, just like lifting heavy objects is in my blood. Ironically, MANY think the two don't go hand in hand, they believe it's ONE or the other. Not true, my friends, I live for BOTH bodyweight training and the heavy iron. Anyone who thinks differently is missing the boat as each one compliments the other, making you stronger in BOTH arenas. Here are 2 videos from an 8 round bodyweight circuit of Pull, Push & Jump! … [Read more...]
Tales of an Unlikely BEAST
Above, Jesse, before The Underground and 2 months after. Below, a compilation of Jesse's progress through the months at The Underground Strength Gym. Tales of an unlikely BEAST..... Dude shows up at The Underground looking to prepare for his future.... classified shiz, NO joke. Former collegiate fencer, pissed off at his physical abilities, motivated like hell to become a BEAST. He changes hit nutrition, gets rid of the crappy carbs and chows down on loads of fruits, veggies, trail mix … [Read more...]
Powerlifting Circuit: Heavy Metal Music & Liftin’ Heavy Metal!
I am cranking away these videos in my effort to answer requests from my Facebook Fan Page. MAN, this is how I LOVE to do WORK! Check the video below of a powerlifting circuit I cranked away... Now, as promised in the video, I told you I would post a highlight video of Fedor in training, which I first saw YEARS ago back in the day when I had a My Space page. The highlight of training had a killer song from the band POD, which you hear me listening to in this workout. Unfortunately, I can … [Read more...]
Jersey Shore Workout Goes UNDERGROUND
I was finishing off my workout and wanted to finish with some bodybuilding work.... POWER-Bodybuilding, that is. HEAVY stuff that most Jersey Shore fans would be lifting light and easy, watching themselves in the mirrors and making sure the hair looks good and the sun glasses don't fog up in between text messaging and 5 minute rest periods :) For me, the transformation is ON, time to get rid of the BIG hair and attack the weights, I see no NO other way to attack. Side raises don't need to be … [Read more...]
Bodyweight Workout for Strength AND Power
I primarily use bodyweight training for strength AND power. Here and there, conditioning circuits as well, using faster, more explosive bouts. I also like to perform bodyweight training for warm ups. High reps get the mind and body working together, the joints get lubricated and all around this keeps you young. In a nut shell, you just can't go wrong with bodyweight training. Nobody can stop you from doing the basics of squats, push ups, pull ups and sprints. I mentioned something in a … [Read more...]
