Hey Zach..
I must tell ya, the interview was pretty damn good. I was seriously nodding throughout the whole thing, agreeing with everything you guys brought up. I switched training types about 2 years back when I was 16 because I kept reading so much about “functional training”, and I gained like 16kg over a year or so.. becoming like elliot really. A so-called fat-strong syndrome. But for a girl, its hell bad to have that! And it made me a real bad advocate for the kick ass training I was doing while everybody was reading magazines on the stepper or guys just slamming their chest and bis like 4 days a week!
I’m starting again to finally do something about my extra weight, because like what you said, there’s no point planning about stuff if you’re not getting cracking. I have no clue how to do this hybrid thing properly, but I set up a 5 day plan for myself:
Monday – Weights and plyos (so like squats followed by squat jumps, floor presses followed by med ball tosses etc.. and with bodyweight “finisher” circuits at the end)
Tuesday – Hill sprints, carrying a 10kg bag on my shoulders, lunges.. I do it at 4 am at this huge ass hill outside my house
Wednesday – “metabolic circuit”. Basic things like bodyweight and kettlebell circuits for 5 rounds.. lots of pushups, inverted rows, swings and the like. Finish it off with 20/10 med ball clean and throw and double unders
Friday – Max 5 rep deadlifts, and a bunch of other supersets for upperbody and legs
Saturday – Heavy kettlebell work. Farmers walks, rack walks, swings, clean and jerks, iso grip holds etc.
Let me know what you think?
You’re a real inspiration.. Keep up the great posts!
Couldnt wait for this & i wasnt disappointed, Awesome stuff, this & the Joe D. interview are on constant replay on my ipod.
Interested to see what elliot’s next vid is!!!!!

Jessica!!! WOW, I am honored and love it to see that girls come to the blog!
Your workouts look kick ass!!!
I love them, but, it is a lot of work, A LOT.
Lots of full body days in there and squats on monday then heavy deads saturday could pose a problem
i would try 3 hard workouts ea. week
full body and then a upper / lower day
on the other days go lighter w/k-bells, bodyweight, sprints, prowler, etc
Robb – what can I say bruddah, we kick ass here
Elliott Hulse is a freaking BEAST and a Class Act…A Lethal Combination!
Awesome podcast,
listening from England, hope everyone appreciates what you guys are doing spreading the word.
Thanks
Jonas, hells yea he is bruddah, and so are YOU!
Beastyboy – nice bruddah, much obliged, I hope you share this bad boy w/your friends!
Zach –
Yeah that’s great advice.. I will check that out and change it up a bit. I can’t do a full upper/lower split because I’m still recovering from a shoulder injury from tennis season, and the doc says I can only do horizontal presses and pulls, but no vert presses and pulls. But I’ll figure something out. Maybe just stick to what you said about 3 hard workouts and then 2 easy ones.
As for the hard work – I take a week off after every four weeks and just swim, run, and do a lot of stretching and recovery work with elastic bands.
Yes I feel proud to be a teenage girl working out like this but fighting stereotypes is definitely a challenge. Anyway thanks!
I met the beast in Orlando. The dude is a bulldozer and is cool as hell.
The telesiminar is one of the best i have heard in a while.
THE DUDE IS gonna be the breakout time to shine beast for 2010.
Go Zach, go Elliott, go Jonas go UNDERGROUND!!!
Awesome call Zach, that’s the kinda stuff I’m rocking at my gym in Devon, England.
Keep pushing the boundries bro
Marc
Good post again Zach!
One thing I really would like to read about is your take on nutrition and supplementation.
What do you have your athletes eat? When? How much?
Thanks!
It is not letting me download it bro, only opening it up in a new window.
Marc, hells yea bro, u r crushing it!
Antwon
I work with lots of high school athletes who for the most part, diminish their results due to lackluster commitment in nutrition.
My college guys “get it”
I look for 5 – 6 meals a day
fruits and veggies at ea meal
1 salad a day
eat like a caveman
Killer stuff, guys!
It’s right in line with the way I’ve been training clients for years! Just like you, I personally have gotten away from some of my conditioning stuff in pursuit of strength and honestly it’s hurt me. I’ve noticed personally that I get stronger when I am leaner and in better overall condition.
Another great trick is to throw in some of this muscle conditioning stuff as a “finisher” at the end of a workout. Something quick, like 5-10 minutes of non-stop work. The EDT stuff works great for this, even if it’s a back and forth for the arms (pump stuff) or something of that nature!

Hey Zach, I finally got time to listen to the whole teleseminar last night….good stuff definitely. Am really interested in more info on nutrition, with specifics. Can you throw more of that out here once in a while? One question, during the interview you really quickly said something about getting rid of dairy foods. I hit dairy pretty hard, thinking it’s natural and good protein. Also use a whey protein powder in drinks. Am I hurting myself nutrition-wise? Would like to know your thoughts, ’cause will have to radically change my eating if dairy’s no good. Milk, yogurt, cheese…I eat a lot. Thanks,
James
in your early 20’s, many of us tend to develop a natural allergy to dairy products
I remember when I was 22, I cut them from my diet and I packed on muscle and got lean as hell
I would always eat turkey and cheese sandiwches, drink milk, eat cereal, etc.
I got rid of it all
It tends, from my own experience and from many athletes, slows them down physically, bogs the energy system and negatively effects the immune system
time to eat like a caveman bruddah!

I just got around to listening to the call. I loved the entire call, especially the rant Elliot went on about “health food in a box”. I couldn’t agree more. I loved the discussion on mindset. I would really like to hear more regarding the “going to war” mindset you guys preach. I am glad someone is saying it. I tried the EDT workout Elliot talked about this morning after I hit Flat bench 225 times 10 sets of 5. I dropped to 185 for sets of 5 followed by 5 pullups for 20 minutes. I was smoked brother. BTW 185 is 2lbs heavier than my bodyweight. I was able to get 12 rounds.
Dennis holy sh*t you are NO joke beast!
Yea man, the workouts are battles. There should be blood on the weights.
It keeps your mental edge, even if it’s not the most scientifically proven methods, it does something for the mind which improves physical performance.
We need more bad asses out there
