This dude ALWAYS blows me away with his knowledge!

I am a lucky guy, no doubt about it :)

A few years back I was chatting on the phone with Pat Miletich (yes, the same Pat Miletich that has one of the best MMA teams in the world) and he referred me to a guy named Jon Hinds.

I took action asap and called and e mailed Jonny to see if we could chat.

We connected immediately and spoke frequently on the phone, the training conversations we had were the best ones I ever had and it was always tough to get off the phone because we were exchangning so many killer training ideas.

Jonny is a true “Physical Culturist” - his training methods are different than mine and he has influenced the way I train my athletes to such a great extent that I frequently call on Jonny for a Bonus interrogation for many of my products.

At 45 years young, Jonny would whoop my ass in a workout and can dunk a basketball like nobody’s business! I just finished chatting with Jonny on the phone and we spoke about training wrestlers, football players, resisted running with bands, speed and power during training, nutrition and tons more: the conversation was so freaking awesome I even missed Entourage!

I watch 30 minutes of TV per week, and that 30 minutes is for Entourage! ha ha

I’ve been using many of Jonny’s methods with my wrestling crew at CJA wrestling club as well as w/my athletes at The Underground Strength Gym.

There is much to learn from a guy who never uses barbells and dumbbells yet is a Pan Ams gold medalist in jiu jitsu, can slam dunk with ease at age 45 and has truly 1 of the biggest influences on me in the “game” of Physical Fitness.

And by the way, someone asked me today via e mail where I get my kettlebells from. I snagged em’ from Jonny and they’re to your left (you can see the banner on your left). I have one sitting outside for over 6 months now with not one ounce of rust on it.

Kill it!

–Coach Z–

PS: I have an interview with Jonny along with a boat load of killer training info in my Combative Kettlebell DVD Set right here: ==> http://combatgrappler.com/KettlebellsforCombat.html

PPS: Check out this video of something I show you plenty more of in Kettlebells For Combat…

I just pulled this craziness out of the hat, because contorary to popular belief, this stuff works, and a lot of training works, people just need to work harder with what they use.

While others were sleeping..

grifkbready.jpg

It was 10 PM at night.

The air was cool and my wife was asleep. My daughter fell asleep at 8:30 PM and I just finish cleaning up, massaging my wife to fall asleep and unable to get in my quick workout, I headed around the backyard into the dark to grab an 80 lb Kettlebell.

The sky was bright, being it was a full moon, I was able to see better than usual.

I had to train, because being strong is what made me successful in the first place.

If time allows, I’ll be squatting tomorrow.

But, for tonight, making sure I lead from the front, I cranked out a brutal circuit under the full moon in my backyard.

The workout went as follows:

Can you hear it, Can you feel it?

I was 23 years old and spending 2 weeks in Los Angeles as I was heavily thinking of moving out west. Every day I took a trip for a few hours into Venice, trained at the weight pit, trained at Gold’s Venice, ate at the famous Fire House restaurant where I ate their very popular “Bodybuilder’s Breakfast” - this was a 6 egg white omelette, a 6 oz flank steak, 3 whole grain pancakes and then I added fresh fruit on the side and a BIG glass of iced tea.

I was in heaven. Bodybuilding was my passion, and to this day, I still consider what I do to be “Bodybuilding”…..after all, I am building my body aren’t I?

But, on my first day in Venice, something very special and electric happened….

Busy Man Fitness with a Kettlebell

June 9th, 2008

I got myself 2 bad ass Kettlebells because the training will likely be at home now that we have our baby boy about to move in :)

Yes, I own a gym, but, I still love those backyard / outdoor workouts with all the freedom to sprint, jump, throw Kettlebells around, carry stones and who knows what else I’ll be doing with my Kettlebells and mother nature.

Without a doubt, one of the toughest complexes I have ever done is The Combat Complex using a 70 lb Kettlebell.

Check the video below and you’ll see what I mean!

Give that complex a shot with a moderate sized kettlebell. If you can hang, hit it for 2 sets! Let me know how it goes :)

In Strength,

–Z–

PS - Where did I snag my last 2 Kettlebells from? Right HERE. And I kid you not, these are the most bad ass Kettlebells I have ever wrapped my hands around. I freakin’ love these beasts!

Lucky? I don’t think so!

My wife was watching FOX news a few hours ago and I caught a few minutes with her. I’m not a big news watcher, too much negativity for me.

The interesting thing that caught my attention was the guest they had on the show who was the founder for the NAAO, National Action Against Obesity.

The newscaster was trying to make her feel bad about the entire airplane seating debate for being obese and how some people are big bones, etc, etc.

ALL the excuses were raining down and MeMe Roth stayed tough and pretty much said, “Hell yea, people should be stigmatized if they are fat and overweight.”

The newscaster closed out with a weak comment, saying, “Well, you’re lucky you’re skinny.”

In the back of a truck…

At one point in time, my “gym equipment” was very little, and it all fit into the back of my SUV….with plenty of room to boot :)

I used three training tools and if I was limited to these 3 things I would still be able to develop bad ass athletes and awesome strength, power and conditioning for myself.

I heard stories about this guy…

stevemstone.jpg

I had heard about him using sandbags during his BJJ classes, homemade Russian Kettlebells, revolving pull up bars, a climbing rope in his house for his son and other wildly innovative methods that were a far cry from the popular stability ball and balance board afficionados.

His methods were in line with my way of thinking and he was certainly someone who was walking the walk being the first American Gracie BJJ Black Belt.

The Gladiator…

April 22nd, 2008
· Filed Under: Announcements · Calendar

maxwell.jpgHe was the first American Gracie Jiu Jitsu Black Belt….

He had his own homemade Russian Kettlebells in his gym loooong before they were popularized in the states…

He taught classes with methods of Physical Culture when others were standing on balls and training on one foot standing on another ball….

The man is Steve Maxwell, a true Gladiator.

Lucky for you….if you’re up for it, is that Steve and I will be putting on ‘The Gladiator Fitness Seminar’ on July 12th at my gym in edison, NJ.

The first 10 sign ups get an early bird special and we already had 1 sign up after the first day of announcing.

There will be 20 available spaces, I hope to see you there. This is the type of training experience that can literally change your life.

It did for me….

In Strength,

Zach Even - Esh

P.S. - Don’t think, just do, don’t procrastinate, take action. NOW is always the best time. Take action Here.
