Episode # 66: The Door & A Bronx Tale…in Edison!?

November 21st, 2008
· Filed Under: Announcements · Articles · Calendar · Strength Building · Success · Underground Strength Show · Videos · Zach's Workouts · marketing · muscle building

“Nows you can’t leave”

I was a freshman in college and had creative writing. I seriously fell in love with the class and never knew how much I LOVED writing until I as given free reign to write about anything I wanted to.

My Professor’s name was Tony, he never told us his last name.

Watching the movie, ‘A Bronx Tale’ was a homework assignment, and then we had to write a reaction paper to it.

The movie floored me.

I used the door test on every girl I met from age 18 until the last girl I met, my wife!

This time, I used the “door” on myself, where you need to see the movie to understand what I just did.

What do you think of this video I just posted?

Did you watch a Bronx Tale?

If yes, how did it influence you?

Who the hell thought this would become a movie blog? ha ha

Who the hell knew I was THIS CRAZY!?!?!?!

Kill it!

Episode # 65: Blasting the Iron with Passion!

November 20th, 2008
· Filed Under: Articles · Strength Building · Success · Underground Strength Show · Videos · Zach's Workouts · muscle building

The gym is the place where I lose myself and find myself.

It’s MY place.

You can’t steal my thunder here, it’s f**ing imposisble!

I want and go after it.

I KILL it when I train, period!

No matter what else is going on in this world and in my life, in the gym, everything goes right.

Rusty iron feels best in my hands.

Sandbags and stones show love as well.

Time to kill….and this is only the beginning.

I got some FIRE inside of me and it’s time to unleash.

NOT for kids….

Tell me what the rusty iron does for you.

How has Underground changed your life?

Kill it!

–Coach Z–

PS: A blend of rusty iron and old school strength awaits you at http://RussianLionFitness.com - It;s time for you to step up!

Episode # 64: Flight 518

November 19th, 2008
· Filed Under: Articles · Success · Underground Strength Show · Videos · marketing

For weeks I would see different planes flying overhead.

I would stare at them, every single one of them.

I was beginning to think of not wanting to be on a plane.

I was thinking even more about doing what I love, and, how much longer and how many more things will I do in my life that are NOT what I want to do.

Would I draw the line?

When would I draw the line.

Should I suck it up, or have I sucked up enough?

For days it felt wrong. Going away again, getting on a plane, and again, doing 1 more thing that is NOT what I love.

Do what you love I always say, follow your passion.

Dan Kennedy speaks of creating a business that governs YOUR rules - for one guy, it meant never wearing a tie unless it was a funeral.

Will I never get a plane? Hardly - it’ll happen again.

But, being on the plane, just about ready for take off, I said “F**k this” - got up and told them I need to get off the plane.

I did.

I walked off.

I drew the line.

I began the very beginning of creating a business around my own rules.

Gene Landrum speaks of breakdown to breakthrough - well, this was my breakdown period.

It was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

This is the year where “real work” ends and my passion begins. These are THE years, lose them now and you can never get them back.

Flight 518….it never happened….but now MORE things will happen….

BIG thanks goes to my wife, for her support, my kids, for their amazing love although they don’t really know it yet, my mastermind crew who supported me and my friends who supported me.

Sometimes it’s rough and tough, but we all make it through these times.

Kill it!

Episode # 63: Rusty Iron

November 19th, 2008
· Filed Under: Strength Building · Success · Underground Strength Show · Videos · Zach's Workouts · marketing · muscle building

Training doesn’t have to be perfect for it to work.

My methods are NOT perfect, they have flaws and holes, but guess what, so does every program.

Sometimes you just gotta kill it without the perfection!

200 reps of plyos, finished with 80 lb walking lunges? This is FAR from perfect but it freaking works: strength, speed, muscle gains and work capacity.

Soembody call the program design police because I DON’T GIVE A F**k!

Kill it!

Episode # 62: The Leg Crank (from Hell)

November 16th, 2008
· Filed Under: Strength Building · Underground Strength Show · Videos · Zach's Workouts · muscle building

This leg crank will rock your lower body BIG time. If you love being sore, go ahead and kill it!

**Parden the crappy camera angles & footage, but hey, I’m a 1 man show here, have mercy on me! ha ha**

On the flip side, remember, improving performance doesn’t come from getting your ass kicked, it comes from smart training.

This is a workout I hit from time to time when I want (and Need) an ass kicking.

The pace should be fast & furious with this workout, no doubt about it.

You can use a light sandbag or perhaps you have made yourself a makeshift sandbag like the Bulgarian Bag shown. We have an article on making a make shift bulgarian bag with a truck tire inner tube at http://UndergroundStrengthCoach.com

It doesn’t have to be pretty to work, that’s for damn sure.

Some of the strongest men and the greatest physiques on earth were built with poor training equipment and less than stellar training environments!

Kill it!

Underground Strength Training in Germany!

November 15th, 2008
· Filed Under: Strength Building · Videos · muscle building

Wow, check out fellow Undergrounder, Dominik Feischl, killing it in his backyard where he has one heck of an Underground set up.

This definitely gives me memories of what was going on in my backyard back when it all began.

That’s when the gym membership ended and the real gains in strength and rugged muscle began.

It’s also when athletes who trained under me began dominating their competition like never before!

Kill it!

Episode # 61: Never Enough!

November 11th, 2008
· Filed Under: Announcements · Articles · Strength Building · Success · Underground Strength Show · Videos · Zach's Workouts · marketing · muscle building

Do you quit when the going gets tough?

Do you let the naysayers bring you down and tell you how bad the economy is?

When you’re crazy busy, do you skip the workout or do you suck it up and train at midnight when everyone else is sleeping?

When you miss a lift, do you cry and go home or do you attack again?

When you see a mountain do you stop or do you climb?

It’s time to kill it, period. I am so f**ing tired of the negative dudes out there crying about the economy, about how busy they are, about this and about that.

I remove those people from my life asap! They will bring you down like the Titanic!

It’s Never Enough! You must always climb to greater heights.

I’m gonna keep on climbing and I have plans layed out to keep kicking ass, more so than ever before!

Kill it!

–Coach Z–

PS: The Kill It Marketing Seminar is on, December 10th, here, at The Underground Strength Gym, aka “Kill it HQ” –> watch your e mail for the announcement :)

Episode # 60: Are you an addict?

November 11th, 2008
· Filed Under: Articles · Strength Building · Success · Underground Strength Show · Videos · Zach's Workouts · marketing · muscle building

A lot of people telling me they’re addicted to the Underground Strength Show! That is insane! And very, VERY humbling.

On the flip side, will everyone love or like everything I do or every episode? Heck No!

That’s life and that’s business!

You need thick skin if you’re gonna put yourself out there. I am not perfect and have many flaws, as does my training.

So my advice to you: Whatever you love to do, do it. Don’t listen to the naysayers and ignore the jealous ones who will put you down and try to stop you.

I’m addicted to the iron, and I’m gonna show everyone what I love to do and I’m gonna do what I love.

Kill it!

–Coach Z–

PS: Are you addicted to the iron like I am? What else are you passionate about? How can you turn your passion into your career?

PPS: Underground training began for me in my Dad’s garage and backyard. It has evolved into something bigger than I ever imagined, but that was a problem for me back then, I didn’t imagine BIG enough. This is what happens when you imagine BIG:

This dude ALWAYS blows me away with his knowledge!

November 9th, 2008
· Filed Under: Articles · Strength Building · Success · Underground Strength Show · Videos · Zach's Workouts · muscle building

I am a lucky guy, no doubt about it :)

A few years back I was chatting on the phone with Pat Miletich (yes, the same Pat Miletich that has one of the best MMA teams in the world) and he referred me to a guy named Jon Hinds.

I took action asap and called and e mailed Jonny to see if we could chat.

We connected immediately and spoke frequently on the phone, the training conversations we had were the best ones I ever had and it was always tough to get off the phone because we were exchangning so many killer training ideas.

Jonny is a true “Physical Culturist” - his training methods are different than mine and he has influenced the way I train my athletes to such a great extent that I frequently call on Jonny for a Bonus interrogation for many of my products.

At 45 years young, Jonny would whoop my ass in a workout and can dunk a basketball like nobody’s business! I just finished chatting with Jonny on the phone and we spoke about training wrestlers, football players, resisted running with bands, speed and power during training, nutrition and tons more: the conversation was so freaking awesome I even missed Entourage!

I watch 30 minutes of TV per week, and that 30 minutes is for Entourage! ha ha

I’ve been using many of Jonny’s methods with my wrestling crew at CJA wrestling club as well as w/my athletes at The Underground Strength Gym.

There is much to learn from a guy who never uses barbells and dumbbells yet is a Pan Ams gold medalist in jiu jitsu, can slam dunk with ease at age 45 and has truly 1 of the biggest influences on me in the “game” of Physical Fitness.

And by the way, someone asked me today via e mail where I get my kettlebells from. I snagged em’ from Jonny and they’re to your left (you can see the banner on your left). I have one sitting outside for over 6 months now with not one ounce of rust on it.

Kill it!

–Coach Z–

PS: I have an interview with Jonny along with a boat load of killer training info in my Combative Kettlebell DVD Set right here: ==> http://combatgrappler.com/KettlebellsforCombat.html

PPS: Check out this video of something I show you plenty more of in Kettlebells For Combat…
