There's lots of sensitivity floating around nowadays. Everyone gets offended by your words, not just from people but from words on the internet, from people they don't know and will likely never meet in person. People argue over politics, training programs, taxes, etc - then they waste hours on end posting their thoughts and feelings on websites or comment sections that will never create change in this world. The truth is, your Instagram or YouTube comment is NOT going to create … [Read more...]

Are You a Slave to Your Phone & Technology?
Image Rights from Genesis Lawyer It's heartbreaking to see it. I drive through town slowly and people are crossing the street without even looking up. I think to myself, what is the conversation in their head right now? I will die crossing this street as long as I can see what's on Instagram! This addictive behavior is doing nothing beneficial for you. You wake up, check your phone. Out to eat with friends and family, check your phone. … [Read more...]

Deadlifts, Doing the WORK & Paying it Forward
The fitness industry is unfortunately loaded with so much BS it disheartens me. It actually embarassess me to even be considered part of this industry. From the fakeness to the lack of ethics, but I guess this is everywhere in the world. There is always good and bad. The light and the darkness. I just wish the very thing that is so near and dear to my heart didn't seem so fake sometimes, or, often times.... In fact, a few months ago I had a conversation with a mentor of mine and I … [Read more...]
OPEX Podcast: Training Athletes, Thoughts on the Strength Coach Profession, Books, Movies & More
I had a GREAT time on The OPEX Podcast with my friend, Robbie Bourke, 1 of the most passionate Coaches & students of Strength & Conditioning I have ever met. This podcast gets deep as Robbie asks GREAT questions (as always). I don't think I've ever gotten this deep into my thoughts on the strength & conditioning profession as well as the details of how I train athletes today vs 10-15 years ago. Below is a timeline of everything we discussed on The OPEX Podcast. … [Read more...]
“Different Training” for Strength, Size & Toughness
Yesterday I was so fired up from reading a newspaper article about Karate Legend, Gary Alexander training harder than most people half his age at age 81, so of course, I HAD to try it myself. Gary Alexander was a Karate instructor where I grew up in Edison, NJ in the 70s, 80s and early 90s. Today, he is in his 80s, STILL training like a madman. Here's his current regime: With scuba fins on his feet, Alexander does 100 laps, mostly on his back, alternating with freestyle strokes. The … [Read more...]
