Woops, almost forgot about this BEAUTY thanks to my insane schedule :)

Check out this beautiful vintage gym in a south jersey basement.

I snagged about 600 lbs of vintage strength weights from this gentleman. I need to clean them up a tad and my son will be getting 4 or 5 VERY vintage York barbells for him to use.

Could there be anything more amazing than some old york weights in your hands? OK, never mind, don’t answer that question.

Anyway, check this amazing video, and if you love vintage strength, you will REALLY love the vintage strength system I stumbled upon from the early 1900′s. It’s awesome, period. Check it HERE.

I also came across some VERY vintage strength equipment over the weekend at my buddy’s place, Skiba’s Barbell Club. Wait till that video comes out, it’ll give you goose bumps I tell ya!

If you have a passion for strength I know you will be blown away with what I found inside The Russian Lion Power Course HERE.

Stay tuned for more strength training, muscle building, and who knows what other adventures in strength I’ll be bringing you! It NEVER gets dull around here that’s for sure!

Peace!

Last night I was so tired when I was done training my athletes at The Underground I was ready to just call it a night and drive home.

But I knew I just couldn’t quit! I had to go hard and dig deep.

It’s been a LONG week with my son, Ethan, being sick all week and waking up all night and my daughter at 6 AM every morning.

But, as a Dad, I have to walk the talk and represent for my family.

So I cranked an old school power-bodybuilding routine out in 25 minutes, and it reminded me of those days in my Dad’s garage when all I owned was a barbell, a set of 50 & 100 lb dumbbells and a gun rack got squatting or racking weights at waist height.

Here’s what I cranked..

1) run the rack standing dumbbell military press: 15 x 5, 25 x 3, 35 x 3, 45 x 3, 60 x 2, 70 x 2, 85 x 2, 90 x 2 (rest 15 sec. between sets)

2) Barbell High Pull x 3 reps ea. set: 135, 185, 205 for 3 sets : changed the weight and did the next set

3) Barbell Clean & Press x 1 rep ea. set: 135, 185, 205

4) DB side raises drop sets: 35 x 8, 25 x 8

5) Bent Over DB raise drop sets: 40 x 8, 25 x 8

6) DB Hammer Curls drop sets: 85 x 5, 45 x 6, 35 x 7

Quick and brutal. Felt like a million bucks when I was done!

Tell us about your favorite power-bodybuilding workout. You know, the ones that pack on muscle and strength faster than any of those fancy, gimmicky, super gadget workouts.

Looking forward to seeing what you got!

PS: I picked up HUNDREDS of pounds of vintage weights today! They need some cleaning up but man are they a thing of beauty!

PPS: I also video toured this dude’s vintage basement gym for you, and one of his York Blobs was just purchased by The Grip King himself, Richard Sorin, to be shipped down his way Monday. Amazing stuff I tell you!

Back in the day York Barbell held strength and health picnics where the greats demonstarted their amazing feats of strength, fans came and watched, lifters shared good times, good food and much laughter.

There was amazing comraderie, great training and information was always shared, NOT hoarded like some top secret affair.

I will bring these times back, mark my words….coming soon to The Underground Strength Gym of Edison, NJ.

Watch ALL the videos below and post comments on your thoughts and if you would like to attend.

Please spread the word if you like what you see by sharing it with digg, face book, stumble upon, etc – or simply send the link to your friends.

I REALLY wanna spread the word about this!

This is a taste of things to come.

I plan on bringing back The Golden Era one way or another.

Post comments below and share with others!

Typical gyms and health clubs suck pretty badly nowadays.

It’s almost impossible to find a hard core facility where they allow “No Rules” Training.

Watch the video closely as I talk to you about power racks, thick bars, grip training, sandbag training and everything else you need…

Check out this vid on how to build your own Underground Strength Gym….

Video to be continued…… :)

Now, if you build it, will they come?

What do you think? Post your comments below :)

Training doesn’t have to be perfect for it to work.

My methods are NOT perfect, they have flaws and holes, but guess what, so does every program.

Sometimes you just gotta kill it without the perfection!

200 reps of plyos, finished with 80 lb walking lunges? This is FAR from perfect but it freaking works: strength, speed, muscle gains and work capacity.

Soembody call the program design police because I DON’T GIVE A F**k!

Kill it!

All you need is a barbell, a pull up bar and the desire to eat big and lift big. But, if you’re like me, you may have quite the infatuation with the “Golden Era” of bodybuilding and the olden days of strength training.

This is why I am always on the hunt for training tools that have history behind them.

My latest toy is a 125 lb Anvil, which was a popular strongman implement used for gripping.

George Jowett actually grasped a 168 lb Anvil by the horn, and then cleaned & pressed it…with ONE hand!

I will see what movements I can use with this Anvil starting tomorrow. I’m sure some of our athletes at The Underground Strength Gym are going to have their way with it as well. Or, will IT have it’s way with them?!

I get a rush of adrenaline every time I use my old York weights and perform exercises that were once called “feats of strength”.

Unfortunately, too many people are not strong enough to lift heavy objects because they fear the challenge, sweat and grit that goes into hard training and muscle building.

I am sure you can find something “odd” nearby to lift and get strong with. It’s a matter of doing it, don’t think, just DO.

In Strength,

Zach Even – Esh

P.S. – Stop messing around, stop making excuses and start doing. Join the Underground movement now.
