So, where have my training videos gone?

Why don't I record all my workouts? What gives?

Let me explain while I crushed a weekend training session....

Once I get my camcorder working I will get some more video recordings of my training. Maybe.

As time has passed through the years of beginning The Underground Strength Show, what I love more is the simplicity and quietness of being away from technology.

In addition, while I am coaching, I get so entrenched in my time with my athletes that I don't remember to record the training. Not sure why, but the only thing I understand is that as time passes, we grow and evolve, simple as that.

One video I'd like to share with you is some old footage from the garage and the local elementary school we used to train at. I attended that school back in the early 80s. Last weekend, James Monroe Elementary School burned down. Everything. Gone.

The students are temporarily placed in the local community college and school supplies have been donated from many.

I'll be holding a fundraiser in the form of allowing drop in sessions at BOTH Underground Strength Gym locations (Manasquan & Edison, NJ).

All donations will go to help fund the rebuilding of my old elementary school, James Monroe of Edison, NJ.

Ironically, I also was living in that area and my kids would have been going to school at James Monroe. As always, the kids are # 1. Gotta pay it forward.

I am finding out who to write donation checks out to and once I get that info I will announce the fundraiser through the e mail newsletter so make sure you subscribe.

  1. Hey, i like what you said, have the white belt mentality and why rest, when it is best to keep moving.

    1. Gotta keep attacking, even when lifting heavy!

  2. Hey zach,

Great stuff about healing “injured/tweaked” areas.

Comming from a W-Medical world, I also work with a DO and he has taught me that a sprained, injured area is best to REST for about 1-2 day “immediately” after injury with compression, no NSAIDS, and No Heat but use ICE. BUT then as you said, after that 2day period you want the blood to return to area and you should practice movements, mobility, stretching, and heat!

    Awesome as always!

I posted a ? in last Spartan blog, just wondering how you are training for the Spartan?

    1. Brandon I am looking for a spartan sprint, the NJ race is 8-9 mile race

Right now I upped the pace of my workouts and added more burpees and sled work

Gonna start trails runs and biking

The ankle needs serious attention right now so anything beyond a sprint could be a danger zone for my achilles

  3. Great stuff about mobility/recovery, Z!
I always say smart athletes live longer & better .
