Mondays......
I clearly recall the 2 times in my life I hated Mondays.
I would turn into a nasty person by Sunday afternoons as I dreaded the start of my week, doing something that was sucking the passion out of my veins. I counted down the minutes to Friday and lived for the weekends.
Sounds like a "normal" guy to me from what I hear from so many nowadays.
Me: Hey, How's work going?
Them: Ehhhh, it's work, you know.
I USED to know and I refuse to go back to those dreadful times.
What a horrible way to live exist. I felt like wasn't even alive, merely existing, trying to make it through the week doing something that crushed my love for life.
The last experience that still burns memories in my mind was when I was a middle school teacher, I believe the year was 2002 - 2003. It was the year I walked around like a walking injury. Torn ACL, broken nose, gained 12 lbs .... You name it, it happened.
I LET it happen. The wrong mindset is your worst enemy.
But, with tough times comes good times, and that is when I began hunting down gym equipment on newspaper classified ads. I began crafting the next chapter in my life and started finding a way to figure this whole "live your passion" thing I had heard about.
It was a year that changed my life.
A year where I learned that you can't pay me enough money to do something that makes me miserable.
Today though, my mind set would certainly be different if I was to travel back in time.....
Back then I had no family, just a single guy living with parents..... Not a whole lot to fight for, at least that's how I felt back then.
Today I have things I believe in, things I stand for, things I am willing to fight for and of course, much better control over my emotions although I am still very passionate and outspoken.....
So, Here are 6 Hard Charging STRONG Life "Rules" for Mondays.
OWN the day. OWN your Life.
1) Focus on your goals.
Don't let the negative people, the complainers or the a--holes stop you, let alone slow you down. Expecting everyone to be on your level is the fastest way towards disappointment.
MANY people are satisfied with "good enough".
If everyone was focused on The Relentless Pursuit of Excellence then we'd ALL have Gold Medals.
It doesn't work that way.
2) Control Your Emotions
Put your emotions in a box.
Don't let a negative circumstance influence you negatively in ALL areas of your life.
Handle it, then move onward & upward. You can't move forward always looking in the rear view mirror.
3) Expectations
Not everyone will be on the Bus towards Owning The day and crushing goals.
You know who the excuse makers are when they announce the common excuses:
I'm too busy
It's too expensive
It's too far away
You can't worry about them.
You can't slow down for them.
Keep the pedal to the medal.
Let them watch from the stands. You're Either IN or You're In the Way.
4) Stay Away From.....
Stay FAR away from those who are good enough and accept mediocrity. These play the victim role when they are truly volunteers of mediocrity.
Strength is a Choice, as is weakness.
Success is a choice, as is mediocrity.
I harp on this often so I hope this one is hits home for a lifetime.
Good enough is the death of greatness.
These people tend to succeed at most levels until the going gets tough.
That's when good enough and their natural talents run dry.
Focus on your work, your goals and your mission. Do NOT sway.
5) No Time to be WEAK
Not everyone thinks training hard the morning of a holiday makes sense.
Not everyone thinks hitting the gym Friday evenings is cool.
Not everyone thinks starting your own business is smart.
Not everyone thinks eating healthy is "cool".
You will not always fit in. Who cares?
Highly motivated people often have less friends.
Times will be when you have NO friends.
Do NOT bend on who you are. Stay the Course.
6) Stand for Something....
Or Fall for Anything.
You're on your OWN from here.
Any more tips or hand holding and you won't be thinking for yourself so add anything you want to this list.
Share with friend if you choose.
Punch those excuses in the face and OWN the day!
