After last weekends Juggernaut Strength seminar at The Underground Strength Gym in Manasquan, Brandon Lilly and I met in person for the first time.
Although we'd been exchanging text messages, etc for about 2 years now, it was great to finally meet in person and here's why....
Brandon and I are cut from the same steel, the same mold.
Sure, he is a boat load stronger than me, but that is NOT the point.
Brandon guides his training through his mind, by connecting Life and the Barbell as one.
Watch this Video and you'll see what I mean.

When Brandon coached the Deadlift I worked up to 535 and missed. I was pissed. BIG time.
Pissed at myself for NOT being strong enough.
So what did I do?
When the next group rotated to their next station, I decided I would get stronger, do more work and DO the Deadlift session. AGAIN.
I was already hungry as hell. I didn't eat at ALL Saturday. It was the afternoon by now and once I worked up to 455 lbs on the deadlift it felt a little slower than the first time I worked through the Deadlift session.
495 went up and I got more aggressive. I bumped to 515 and missed it.
Brandon let the other guys hit their 1 RM and one of the guys hit 565 or maybe 575. Everyone was smashing PRs. The atmosphere was THE key.
The lifters changed their ATTITUDE and I saw it in their eyes. Many of the lifters were younger than me, and it was awesome to see these younger lifters and coaches connect with the training beyond the numbers on the bar.
They connected with living a STRONG LIFE.
I pay attention to a LOT of things when I host seminars. I'm picky with WHO walks through these doors and of course that builds a long list of haters.
I was proud of Brandon for the way he inspired everyone in his groups. yes, he certainly instructed them with technique and strategies, but he spotted what held each person back and spoke to them from his heart.
You can NOT teach that.
You either care or you don't.
I was REALLY psyched to see the eyes of everyone open up.
I was psyched to see people change their attitudes.
People began to realize that mentally, we were ALL holding ourselves back.
I wasn't supposed to do the deadlift session twice.
I wasn't supposed to be strong with no food in the body.
But I DID it. YOU can DO it. It's a Choice you make to be strong or to be weak.
The choice is YOURS.
There are a MILLION excuses we can use and fabricate to hold ourselves back.
Those Excuses are ALL BULL SHIT.

What if you trained more Animalistic?
What if you trained Prison style?
What if..... You stopped holding YOU back?

Awesome! Thank you! I call “The Lifts”-deadlift, squat, bench, snatch and clean/jerk Sacred!
Nothing pisses me off more than when people disrespect the greatness of The Lifts. To make a mockery of our tradition. In lifting this is all we have! You can say anything you want about this or that style of training but in the end it comes down to the work.
I really like his mindset. Thank you!
Bloody Shins For Life!
It’s the mindset, NO doubt
Brandon Lilly says NO bloody shins
The friction = a slower pull and possibly a missed lift.
Big D you would VERY much connect with Brandon!
You got me hooked because the pull into the sagittal plane has been my focus. Not actively trying to rip flesh but understanding if you bleed the pull is in tight.
I will connect with him because it is all about learning more.
Thanks!
What was the quote from the beginning of the video? I have been listening to Brandon talk a lot more recently and my lifts have all improved, I cant wait to attend some of his seminars.
