In this episode I answer the following question:
Hey, Zach. I've been subscribed to your emails for a little over a week now, and I noticed you put an emphasis on being lean even while building muscle. I honestly don't understand the whole being lean thing since I've been skinny my whole life, and I wouldn't mind putting on some fat in the process of getting bigger and stronger. I've also heard several people say that some fat (obviously not so much to the point where you're overweight) is good because it acts as energy reserves.
Have you seen any videos of bodybuilders vs real fighters? The bodybuilders always seem to gas out sooner or later. (I guess that's why not all fighters have the best looking physiques.) So it seems to me like some fat, not a lot, is good for athletes in that regard. Anyway, that's my point of view. Could you explain why you put an emphasis on leanness?
