We had our Team meeting this AM for our coaches at The Underground and every time we check over who is not showing up, and I must admit, it truly blows my mind.

We can reach out to the athlete and parents 5 - 10 times and they don't even respond.

Think about it; someone who CARES for them and their kid's success does NOT get a response.

BUT...... You KNOW that Instagram and TikTok gets their FULL attention for 4+ hours a day.

I gotta tell you, as an athlete, winning today is WAY easier.

And when I tell you things are NOT the same as they used to be, I mean it. Many will say, "Ohhh, Zach, you're soooooo negative."

The reality is, I have a high standard and I love winning and hate losing. I do NOT want to be around parents, adults and / or athletes who enjoy mediocrity.

I need to be around Workers. Finding your people is crucial in this world - we were once there but we no longer are. Times have changed and the reality is, I don't fit in one bit.

This crew below was a bunch of guys in high school and college, they all began training in 8th or 9th grade..... The intensity and work ethic is something I haven't seen for a LONG time.

Yes, athletes are BUSY doing a lot of "stuff" but they are NOT training. They come back from their disappearing act struggling to do a freakin' push up!

Pull Ups? NO way - specialty program? YES! Specializing in fads and gimmicks, thank you very much.

Do yourself a favor if you're a parent, get The Encyclopedia of Underground Strength. Don't just READ it, LIVE it.

Listen and Enjoy as I drop truth bombs as we press forward in a world where fads, gimmicks and distractions are widespread.

I spoke with a Coach recently and he explained what a lot of athletes and parents do today. He calls it BCD: Blame, Complain, Defend.

When a Coach says something to an athlete, it is often met with an emotional response. This is a guaranteed way to never improve as an athlete.

A Coach will tell you how to get better. If the Coach has to find 99 ways to perfectly talk in a soft manner to an athlete, we will not be able to help the athlete achieve more.

Training Partners......

On a late Friday evening, my son told me we're going to the gym. It was Friday evening and I was wiped out. If it wasn't for my son, I would have stayed home and called it a day.

Get around workers and steer clear of bums; this goes for everyone, not just athletes.

One of my favorite experiences is my kids growing up at The Underground. I opened my Manasquan location when they were 4 and 6.

The night I was training with my son I said, "Hey buddy, we've been training partners for 13 years now!"

BEST. TIMES. EVER.
