Two weeks after Hurricane Sandy has passed I am still shocked at how many people don't REALLY understand what happened. I would probably not realize either if I wasn't so close to the beach & those most affected.
I recall seeing the videos and images of New Orleans after Katrina, it just doesn't hit you unless you are IN the mix of things. I took a bike ride through town yesterday and there are still areas closed off to those not living or who once lived) in the affected areas near the beach and the bay.
It fucked me up emotionally. I saw ENTIRE homes with ALL furniture, kids' toys, kitchen supplies and more stacked up along sidewalks and streets. I saw stuffed animals that were once the love and joy of a little kid. I saw homes being torn down or torn apart in pieces as homes were ridden with mold from the water damage.
I hear of tree removal services and contractors quadrupling their prices - WTF!!?? It pisses me off. In times of hurt, we have those in power ripping people off.
I can NOT thank you ALL enough for making donations - it ALL adds up and it ALL helps. I will be doing some more work through my gym to help those affected in my areas, such as clothing and food donations in exchange for training. Details will be announced through our Newsletter and Facebook Fan Page.

Thanks for doing what you can to help those in need. Looks like a great fun event, but that $3,000 is the true event victory. Great job!!
