Inside the Mind of Warriors

share

Listen how these MMA fighters think AND feel while working out and how they put themselves in uncomfortable situations while training to prep not just the body, but also the mind, for the war that will be ahead of them, inside the octagon!

Yes, the barbells were very light, but the pace was brutal, and this is AFTER the warm up, which would crush most people with all the warrior bodyweight exercises and the sprinting.

  1. z,

  2. Zach,

Love it! Great footage man. I love this style of circuit training; I use a similar style during Fat Burning and Muscle Conditioning Phases at my gym – Empire Fitness in Toronto. What I like more is the brotherhood and sense of camaraderie that is forged as a result of time spent under the bar toiling at the same fight! Sick sh*t!

  3. Zach,

Here is a pretty stupid question. Even though the guys in the video where using light weights on the barbells, where they still gaining muscle mass/strengh?

I know its a pretty dumb question but Ive always heard that the more weight the more mass/strengh. Just wondering.

Fighters be it MMA or wrestlers are not Warriors! Warriors fight real wars, warriors risk there lives for the common good, to protect and defend there country.

Hurricane workouts are not meant for muscle and mass building, they are conditioning based

  6. Robert – interesting point, so NO respect for the fighters who train like this?

I bet Military personnel could learn a ton from this style of training and mindset.

I’ve met many Military Personnel who woulda dropped dead after 2 minutes.

I also know many Military Personnel who are tough as nails!

Stay tuned as I have an interview series coming up with some Spec Ops guys 🙂

Maybe that will be up your alley more so.

  7. Hey Zach,

Love the footage! Matt definitely knows what he’s talking about when it comes to training! Doing actual sprints is so much better for the body than doing intervals on a piece of cardio equipment where the feet aren’t making impact with the ground every step.

When we run, our bones actually get stronger, not weaker! Some people think running is bad for the knees but the difference between people getting hurt and those that run pain free comes down to proper footwear, balance in muscle strength, and letting the body adapt to the stress without getting overzealous and doing 30 sprints on your first day of sprinting.

Also, standing up and moving around during the workout “wakes” the body up. You don’t get that by sitting down or laying down to workout. Some exercises are good laying down but if the majority of someone’s program has them laying down, that definitely isn’t a good thing!

Keep up the good work guys!!

  8. Zach,

When are you going to be hooking up with the Spec Ops guys? Being in the military and all I would love to learn some new ways to torture my body! LOL!
