How Men Over 40 Can (and Should) Get STRONG Again

share

Below is an email from The STRONG Life Insider - my daily, morning email that I send out to over 7,000 men.

Enjoy.......

Good morning, Gladiator — Time to destroy our Monday.

I asked myself as I sit here about to write you:

What would I say if I was standing in front of a room of 1,000 Men?

Let’s not sugarcoat a damn thing. If I lie to you, I hate myself for being too nice and soft about the truth.

Here is the TRUTH:

The world is soft. Men are getting weaker by the day.

Getting Men to strength train and eat healthy feels like dragging a 1,000 lb Gorilla out of its cage at the local zoo.

I thought Men were wired to run towards these things but I am wrong.

Men today run towards their phone, the couch and their laundry list of excuses.

YOU must choose to be different. And every day, every hour of the day, you must exercise habits that build your Strength. Your habits make or break you.

The same way we have 7 days fr-ee for Gladiator STRONG and Dad STRONG is what we have at The Underground this week.

We have 7 Days fr-ee for Father's Day for all our Dads at The Underground Strength Gym.

We have called them, emailed, texted, spoke to their kids and we can not even give it away.

Read that again.....

It's so expensive, it's FREE.

The response has been crickets......

Men fear change and they fear the work.

This is also a reminder that if you own a fitness or strength & conditioning business, money is NOT the issue. It can be FREE and still, many will NOT take action.

A friend of mine, a father of 2 who is a BJJ black belt and a very busy man, he said his friend will only go to BJJ if he picks him up and goes with him.

This is a grown man needing this, yet it sounds like what a child would need.

I will not lie to men or lie to athletes and their parents about "What it Takes".

It takes REAL f--king work and commitment.

Yes, WORK.

Discipline.

Consistency.

We all know this but many refuse to talk about it because today's world is more about BSing you with "shortcuts".

The real shortcut is the WORK.

You are reading The STRONG Life because you want to destroy weakness of mind and body.

You refuse to be the "common man".

We are The MEN in the Arena.

===========

Here are 3 hard truths and 3 training tips to make this Monday count:

TRUTH #1: If You’re Not Training, You’re Decaying.

You don’t “maintain” anything. You either get better or you rot. As we get older, "Use it or Lose it" comes at you very fast. In your teen years, you can skip here and there and maintain strength. As we "get older", a week away begins the decline.

Months and even years away from physical activity = complete weakness.

Training is supposed to be Tough and challenging, so stop looking for easy, it's a lie.

TRAINING TIP:

Today or for the entire month, do 100 push ups before you get to bed each night. Break them up as needed. 25 reps at a time should be the goal at the minimum.

And, 100 KB Swings. Same thing, 25 reps at a time. Men should aim to use a 53 lb Kettlebell.

No Kettlebell? Do 100 squats or buy a used Kettlebell on Facebook marketplace.

Build the body and build the mind.

Each set should take you 30 - 60 seconds. I am sure you have 4 or 5 minutes a day to devote to your mind and body.

TRUTH #2: Comfort is the Enemy (I say this ALL the time)

Your couch is lying to you. Your phone is draining your edge.

You are a slave to your phone. Heck, your phone owns you.

Will you go to the grave celebrating all the time you wasted on your phone?

TRAINING TIP:

Get outside. Train in the fresh air. Grab something heavy — a sandbag, a kettlebell, a rock — and carry that SOB.

Today, I will be carrying my 2 Kettlebells down the road.

I have a 53 and a 70 so I will switch hands each time I put them down.

You need some struggle in your Life. Struggle forges the
mind and the body.

Pain = Progress.

Unlike the nerds of the internet today preaching all this "optimal" training and comfort, you need some PAIN in your life. Pain lets you KNOW you're still alive.

TRUTH #3: You Are the Standard

Your family, your loved ones and your kids — they’re watching how you show up. If you are lazy, your family follows suit.

Do the work that inspires your family - don't talk about it, Be about it!

We share this message on our private Forums every day with both Gladiator STRONG and Dad STRONG.

We have an IRON Brotherhood.

TRAINING TIP:

Tonight — hit a 20-minute garage / basement throwback session
like the early days of The Underground:

  • 5 rounds:
    • 10 jump squats
    • 10 pull-ups or rows
    • 10 dips or push-ups
    • Sprint 50 yards (or jump rope x 100 reps)

No gym? No excuse. Get it done in your driveway, backyard, or living room.

Pull ups can be done with rings, a towel thrown over a tree branch or ON a tree branch itself.

It's not like 25 years ago when I started The Underground, we built ALL our equipment. Now, you can find it all easily and order it on Amazon.

Heck, the convenience makes us all weaker.

Fight back or you will succumb to laziness and weakness.

You don’t need more gym equipment.

You don’t need motivation. Summon your fire from within!

You need to stop lying to yourself and do the WORK.

This is why I built Gladiator STRONG.

GS was built to give men like you real training, real accountability, and a IRON brotherhood of fire-breathers who refuse to be average.
