The Awesome Cadillac Note on The Penalty of Leadership came across my desk as I was studying business materials as I prep for what I want to discuss at my upcoming Mastermind meeting.
I share my thoughts on this note from Cadillac and how I've experienced this since my early days as a teacher.
For those who strive for excellence in life, this is a must read and watch / listen.

Zach, I have followed you since ’09 or ’10 – somewhere around that time. Excellent post because I have also felt this burden, this supposed ‘stigma’ of being the leader. I used to call myself the ‘Tip of the Spear’ in the mission statement of my original business plan. The more times I have heard these words that you speak today, and others have talked about in a similar manner, I always get something new out of it. And more importantly I need to hear these things. Great job as always and I am happy to have known of you for so long, even though we’ve never met. Keep up the good work leading from the front!
Mike, thanks for the awesome words, brotha! Yep, there is no guts or glory if we stay in the middle and fear being who we really are.
Leaders push others to succeed.
You can’t do that sitting back.
Plain and simple.
Z,I have thrived as a “black sheep” most of my life.
Someone else’s criticism of me or what I do is just fuel for the fire.
I will consider legitimate feedback from responsible people I respect like gold. I value it highly, but groundless criticism from people who have accomplished nothing is worthless.
A wise msn once said, the higher you climb up the ladder, the more of your butt is exposed.
Frank keep trusting your gut and following through as always, you are doing GREAT things at THE Cave!
Wow, Zach. A very good talk on the penalty of leadership. You were at one time sounding like a captain leading his troops into battle : ) This is some serious thought, anything great attracts good or bad criticism. Have thick skin and be ready, if you are looking to achieve or be some think great.
Mitch, thanks, my brotha, that fires me up!
