    Yo Zach:

You killed it with this message. All too often I hear excuses on why individuals cannot train and there is NO EXCUSE! Whether you are training for life, battle, or some other career or personal goal, you should strive to make yourself the best at that task/goal. In my line of work the least proficient is the most dead, and when I see others slacking I remind them that their enemy isn’t resting so why should they? Others should take this message and apply it to their goals because in the end everything in life is a competition, no matter if the opponent is another person or even your own mind.

Always push it to the next level. Always push to make yourself better than you were the day before!

    1. Stronger than yesterday, brutha!

  2. So true! I think some men have the right attitude and some don’t. I think you cannot build the attitude. For those that don’t have it they should try working on it until it becomes a habit. They will at least get the job done. And as Michael Jordan said “If you quit once it becomes a habit. Never quit!!”
Thanks so much for the video. You are building a new breed of real men. Free men.

    1. Yes, keep pressing above and beyond the obstacles!

  3. I love the concept of staying dangerous!

I would add in the notion of staying valuable and continuing to contribute value to people and society.

I’m learning that the more value I give others the more respect I receive in return

    1. Yes, from Act of Valor movie

    1. Tim, thnx brutha, hellz yea, I’ll keep bringing it, homie!

  5. And what lessons for hard injury times?
Now i’ve been at this times. Can’t stand on my left foot, can’t move my head. Terryfying pain. Can’t sleep well. Missing my workouts. The doctor gave me a lot of drugs, but it is not good idead, it can be disaster for my internal body.

    1. Luko

I am unsure of your injuries my friend, BUT, if what you’re doing is hurting you and not helping you, find NEW help my friend.

I KNOW there are options beyond drugs / meds

  6. Killer! So many people i know come up with excuses about going to the gym and training. Then it’s no surprise when they have excuses elsewhere. We live in a society of excuses, everyone just needs to man up. Thanks for the inspiration Zach!

  7. Very true I hate that attitude, I have my gym outside but all this sub-zero snow don’t stop me I get a shovel and dig it out then throw a bunch of plates on there and squat, I can'[t for the life of me understand all these excuses people have, especially from the ‘tough guys’!

on ‘staying dangerous’ are we talking been ready for what ever comes or Brian Oldfield style bear beating dangerous haha!

I’m 48 years young, have 7 seven kids (ages 6 months to 16 years) and it is due to my family that I never use an excuse to not train. Approaching 70 by the time my youngest child is 20 is great motivation. I need to be fit, mobile, flexible, and strong for my family. I love active recovery on my “rest” days. Maybe that is part of it – I love what I’m doing and I love my family. My family supports me on needing time to train. Sometimes they want to workout with me.

    1. When family supports what U do you’re a stronger man immediately!

      1. My father is 67, works overnight doing heavy manual labor for 10-12 hours at a time and still finds time to hit the gym. Always an inspiration!

  9. Zach, thanks so much for this video today. It could not have come at a better time. I teach high school PE and own a gym. I spend all day training others and sometimes when I go out to my garage gym in the evening I just don’t have much left in the tank for myself. Your video helped me to realize that this is an excuse and that I need to suck it up and make it happen. While hitting my back squats today, my wife and 3 little kids pulled up and suddenly my motivation for the nasty metcon I was planning was gone. All I wanted to do was ditch my workout and go inside and hang with the family. I couldn’t do it though. Because every time I went towards the door I heard you say, “don’t lose your edge!” I hit that nasty workout and did not allow myself to lose my edge. Thanks again.

    1. Nick!

I know that feeling!!! Times like this I do heavy met cons to get it ALL taken care of, and if the kids wanna go outside, I do sprints with them!

  10. First things first: the new design is SUPER CLEAN. LOVING IT!!!

“The worst thing a man can do, is lose his edge”

Great message and a great wake up call for those who have bailed on their new years resolutions for whatever reason.

Hard work has no substitute folks. Let’s make 2013 a memorable one ๐Ÿ™‚

    Great stuff as usual Zach!

    Dennis

  11. “The worst thing a man can do is lose his edge” WORD. “You gotta go get your haircut” LOL

  12. You Killed It!

You gotta train … Hit the gym … hit the mat because if you’re not doing that … you’re falling behind those who are!

Gotta take advantage of what’s in front of you! I’m tired of hearing people say… “I Wished I, Could’ah, Should’ah, Would’ah”

Just do it already, the door is open!

  13. Thank GOD there are still a few guys who know what it means to be a man!
I refuse to let our nation become a nation full of sissies and cry-babies!
Gonna dewussify America one man at a time!

  14. Find a way or find an excuse. Your strength is always measured by what you let stand in your way vs what you can blow through to get what you want.

    Thanks for the reminder Zach!
