Dhani Jones used to train with my homeboy Joe DeFranco....in a storage closet and sometimes outdoors on a Football field, flipping 600 + lb tires and throwing around Kegs.
Today, Dhani Jones has his own TV show and "Tackles the Globe" while competing in the respective country's sport, many of which are combat sports.
Check out some footage of Dhani below, and, notice how much of his preparation for each sport requires some unorthodox methods - combining these Underground methods with his athleticism and SERIOUS strength, he is kicking some ass around the globe....
Wrestling, Sambo, Muay Thai, Stone Training, Rugby - these are ALL brutal sports.
I have connected with many Rugby players from the UK and have also had the pleasure of meeting UK Strength Coaches as they attended my Underground Strength Coach Certification - I have NEVER met a weak person from the UK. Seems to me they ALL love serious, no-nonsense, Underground training.
The lesson to be learned from the above videos?
Be Strong and Be Athletic...
This means using bodyweight training methods, odd objects, participating in various sports and getting STRONGER on a regular basis.
Now Get Busy!

PS: Bodyweight training, stone training, odd objects and athletic movements...find them all HERE.
PPS: Some kick ass videos coming your way and a BIG announcement on May 25th, stay tuned 🙂
PPPS: Dhani's Strength Coach while on the east coast was Joe DeFranco. Joe & I recently recorded our Lost Secrets of Strength Seminar so stay tuned for this release, it was an un-freakin-real mix of training, business, mindset and lifestyle!

Zach,
I totally agree!
Unless you are a professional athlete who needs to practice and develope specific skill for his sport, I think most are way better off doing a greater variety of things in their training.
Even sport specific athletes can benefit tremendously from using what some view as unorthodox training methods.
Getting strong, fast and tough from such varied training gives a person (athlete or not) a great advantage physically and mentally over others.
I remember trying to get friends to train with me and they would say something like: ” If I get too strong it will throw off my jump shot”. Yeah, right, like they had the NBA checking them out.
Get out there and mix it up!
Walter
You can totally see the raw strength that Dhani has and continues to build. Getting your mind right is something that athletes fail to do sometimes. I notice in the vid that he is training in a not so friendly environment. That’s what it takes to build and shape that warrior mindset. Thaks Z.
Dude, I love that show…Dhani is definately a personality and I have a feeling we’ll be seeing him on the small screen again!
As far as the training goes…Dhani is an ATHLETE and it shows. You need strength, power, conditioning, basic movement skills, etc and you don’t get that from just “lifting weights”.
Thanks for the vids!
Z, I agree with Joe, in the videos you can see the raw strength, but aside from that you can see that Dhani had mentally taken things to another level. As it should be!…Great videos! Thanks Zach
Once again an excellent written post from you. Keep it up!
