If you let your passion slide then you might as well be dead.
Question for YOU: Have you let go of something that you were once passionate about because of some Bull Shit excuse? Step UP & get it rolling again. Be accountable, drop a comment, tell the world what you're gonna do to bring your passion back to life again!
Peace!

PS: When I was 13 I KNEW I was gonna open a gym.... a hardcore gym..... I NEVER let the dream go.
When I was in elementary and middle school I was die hard for my BMX & Freestyle bike, I wanted to learn how to surf and I used to bomb down the hill behind the Edison water towers on my skateboard!
My passion doesn't die and excuses won't stop me and they shouldn't stop you. This is YOUR time, make the most if it or you are NOT TRULY LIVIN'.

Sweet bookshelf.
That book shelf has been in the making for well over a decade w/books dating back well over a century old ๐
I always talk to my clients/friends about this single day! I’ve been lucky enough (or maybe is not luck…I just had the balls)to do what I love since I was a kid.
Started playing drums when I was 7, played every single sport you can imagine since 5 (the beauty of having a brother 4 years older) and learning about training for bodybuilding at first (remember the JOE WEIDER SYSTEM? who didn’t have that at the time right?)and then trying to make my friends who played sports better. Even though I was exposed to everything that was going on in the U.S., living in Central America made things a bit difficult sometimes.
But I always knew I’d have my own gym and that I would be the one to start changing the way people trained in my Country and Latin America. People don’t know this, but since we always had a U.S. Military presence here in Panama, we had stuff from the States first than all the rest of Latin America. Sometimes, we were the only ones to know about certain things. So I knew training wise, the change would have to come from someone exposed to all this different things.
20 years later, I was working as a Personal Trainer and at the biggest gym in town and already was paving the way to reaching my dream. But something was missing, I wanted to do things different than everybody else and like what happen to you with Defranco, I use to follow MIKE MAHLER and JON HINDS a long time ago and somehow ended up emailing MIKE about 5 years ago and my life changed forever.
MIKE gave me the advise I needed to cowboy the f*ck up and do my own thing. MIKE somehow related to me, as I was doing stuff with Kettlebells, Sandbags and other unusual equipment at the time (and even now)in Latin America, just like he was doing in the early 2000’s. So through his Workshops I ended up meeting my heroes and people I really looked up to. Ended up meeting JON HINDS, who is a really special individual, you know this as we’re friends with him. And met guys from every spectrum of the training world.
Now, years later, our gym BRIGA was the first real CrossFit Affiliate in Latin America, we’re considered by people that really know as the authority in Unconventional Training in the Region, as we’ve been fortunate enough to learn and train with guys from MAHLER, HINDS, a guy called ZACH EVEN-ESH, STEVE COTTER, JOHN BROOKFIELD, MARK PHILIPPI, KEN BLACKBURN…and the list goes on and on. We’ve done Seminars and Workshops alongside the best in the business and all of that happen because I just refused to let my dream go.
Imagine this, I don’t even live in the U.S., so if you’d ask someone if someday he’d be friends with such great trainers, if he’d be considered by this great trainers as someone who’s really good at what he does and actually is asked for advise sometimes…no one would believe this could ever happen to a guy from little Panama City, Panama.
Well, my dream has come true and this is only the begining. Sorrounding myself with guys like yourself, Mike, Jon and other great trainers, only fuels the fire. That’s why when someone asks me if they should spend money on Certs like yours, I always say HELL YEAH! Because, we all have things to learn from each other. The real trainer is the best student. Always seeking for more knowledge.
I am living my dream because I had the balls to go against history, against Geography, against the language barrier, against all the walls people usually build up to feel good after the “pussied up” and said bye bye to their dreams and believes.
COWBOY THE F*CK UP AND MAKE STUFF HAPPEN!

Great blog post as usual. This may be irrelated to this post but I really would like your view on it. Can this style of training shown here: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/max_out_on_squats_every_day
work for a teenage hockey player looking to gain weight who is on the ice atleast 3 times a week?
Ory – dude, I LOVE that story my man, LOVE how U went after it and kicked ass, that shit inspires me my man and fires me UP!!!
Ryan – that workout will kill a high school or college athlete unless…… he is an olympic lifter, living overseas, being payed to train for an olympic or world team, is able to eat, sleep and train….. has ALL meals cooked, laundry done and all obligations taken care of
This is NOT the way to train for an athlete – he will be too sore to even get on the ice
the mental aspect of the article is great w/regards to staying tough, etc.
