STRONG Life Insider Ep. 36 | How to Gain 30 lbs of Muscle

share

In this episode of The STRONG Life Insider I outline the nutrition and training required for the under-sized athlete to get JACKED & STRONG.

1 of the things we've been doing at The Underground Strength Gym for close to 20 years is transforming undersized athletes rapidly. Now, ONLY those who follow through on BOTH training AND nutrition achieve the transformation.

There are certainly plenty of athletes who do NOT follow through on the eating or they skimp out on the training and then of course, they fall short of achieving the size and strength they needed AND wanted, but were NOT willing to do the work to achieve.

When Coach says, "I need you to gain 30 lbs by next season", this is what you do.

As I shared the story of 1 of the athletes we trained who started around 130 lbs and then grew to 165 lbs, here is his approach jump video:

Now, for every athlete that DOES gain the 30 lbs, there are plenty who do NOT gain 30 lbs and here's the TRUTH:

- The program always works. So it is NOT the program that failed.

- The athlete Failed to Follow Through on doing the work of training, nutrition and sleeping day after day, month after month.

I've heard JM Blakley say this as well, "It's not the program that failed. The program always works. The program has been proven to work. It's the athlete who failed to do the work."

This is the unfortunate truth, some athletes are simply NOT going to do the work. Some athletes will train but they will not have the food at home. I tell these athlete to ride their bike to the local 7-11 and buy 2 cartons of eggs. Eat 6 eggs in the morning, 6 eggs at night. Don't blame your parents.

Buy instant oatmeal and add sliced almonds, sliced banana and some honey. Make your own "Old School Weight Gain Shake" with the following:

- 12-16 oz of whole milk

- 1 Spoon Almond Butter / Peanut Butter / Sun Butter

- 1 Spoon Olive Oil

- 1/2 Cup or 1 Cup Dried Oats

- 1 Spoon Honey

- 1 Banana

- 2 Scoops Ice Cream

The above is what we call The Old School Weight Gain Shake. This was popular many decades ago and some people will be saying, Oh my God this is so fattening.

This shake is NOT for those who are fat. This shake is for the athlete who is skinny and struggling to gain size! In fact, when I look at the magazines of the 70s and prior, there are MANY ads in the magazines for "crash weight gain" and very, very few for burning fat.

Today, we see the opposite, unfortunately. There ARE plenty of skinny athletes running around who don't know how to train and eat because of the abundance of MIS-information. Nothing is worse than FREE information that is Incorrect. It's a time waster and time is of the essence for athletes.

Ask kids today what they ate for breakfast and very rarely do they have a home cooked meal. It's always a protein bar or a protein shake. All of this ready and done for you food teaches LAZINESS. Kids must learn how to work the stove top. How to make omelettes, french toast, pancakes, etc.

Kids should learn how to use the grill to cook up some hamburgers and steaks. How to boil potatoes or bake them in the oven. Ultimately, the athlete must be willing and ready to do ALL the work, not just in the gym but out of the gym as well.

If you're an adult, you're likely NOT trying to gain 30 lbs of muscle but I'm sure you WANT more muscle.

The training programs inside The Underground Strength Academy will serve you perfectly. Adults can follow The Gladiator Project and The Underground Volume Course which will take 6 months (3 months minimum on each program).

Afterwards, You can move into The Underground Strength Workout of the Month.

Again, it's NOT the training that fails. It's the athlete who fails to do the work. The downfall of today is everyone wants ALL the results as of yesterday without doing the work of Today. It doesn't work that way. Welcome to the REAL world.

Ultimately, the athlete who is willing to do the work with consistency is the athlete who succeeds the MOST in the end. The "secret" is in doing the work.

Time to get after it.
