Why I Choose To Be STRONG – Inspiration From My Son

I am psyched to get this day rolling for you!

I hope your weekend was amazing and you got some brutal training in. I feel GREAT after the Level 2 Underground Strength Coach Certification that we just had at the New Underground Strength Gym.

We broke in the new gym with a ton of ass kicking training and now I feel more connected to the new spot. HUGE thanks to my Underground Strength Family for making the trip, we kicked ass and I couldn't be happier with how it all went down!

Last night, while laying in bed with my son and helping him build everything but the kitchen sink with his Legos I asked him what he wanted to be when he gets older.

He is always working and building so I always joke with him and tell him he's gonna be a contractor. His smile was huge, as it always is, so huge, that his eyes practically close when he smiles so big.

He said, ......

"I wanna be like you, Daddy. STRONG."

That crushed my heart right there.

I always tell you, how as Underground Strength Fanatics, we are out there training for life, living the code and going beyond the mere appearance benefits of training.

Sure, when we train the way we do, eat lean and mean and have the right mindset you WILL get built like a brick shit house.

But it is the WHY that helps you dig deep and train hard for the long haul, for the rest of your life.

If you speak to someone like Jim Wendler he will tell you the same. He trains for a purpose beyond breaking PRs

My Son has taught me a few very critical, heart felt skills:

1) He never holds a grudge and .....

2) He always lets things go. He forgives and forgets.

I know this e mail goes beyond sets, reps, biceps, pecs and abs but that is what I am made of and I don't feel the need to pretend otherwise. I don't talk about or encourage things I don't truly believe in. I don't care what the rest of the world is doing or what band wagon they are jumping in I prefer to blaze my own path.

I am deeper than pecs, biceps and abs and I know you are too, it doesn't matter if you're a parent or not.

I Want You To Do This Right Now, Even If You're At Work.

Step 1: Pull out a blank sheet of paper and write down at the top of your paper this ONE word in BIG Caps:

WHY?

I always understood my WHY, but Quatro Deuce, my Navy SEAL Mentor really taught me how to dig deeper and take it to the next level.

I want you to answer your WHY on your paper.

1) WHY do you train and.....

2) Why do you live the way you live?

Underground Strength Nation CAN change the world, if we want to. It starts with us as individuals and it grows as we come together.

We're stronger in numbers, that is for sure. Parents or not, men or women, it doesn't matter. What does matter is we all start with the right intentions.

Let go of grudges and forgive others.

Train hard and as always....

Live The Code

There is nothing greater than your child looking up to you, and wanting to be you. Having two boys my every move is to teach a lesson. With a degree in Philosophy I am always explaining and challenging them to explore their perception of the world. I ask, “Why” more than they do. I want to know if my lessons are being heard and learned.
When I ask, “What do we do?” and they respond, “Never give up! Never quit!” I know I am getting through.
    Great stuff!
