  1. Hey Zach, Undergrounders,

its been awhile since I visited this blog and I have a long dark period of life behind me. It all started out with a serious back injury and after that I spiraled downward as I’ve done before. Its to personal and boring so I wont get into that.

    So why do I train?
Good question and it deals exactly with my personal shortcomings. I wont send in a vid because of various reasons but here is part of my WHY:

Why I train? Because I’m weak. Simple as that

And by weak I don’t necessarily mean weak on physical attributes (but I’m not that strong in that field either…).
It’s those mental weakness and weakness in life that I fight against every f… day.

I guess everybody has his/her shortcomings – the one more the other less. Training helps me enormously to be a better person in life, to fight back those monkeys on my shoulder and to be there for my kids and family.

When I train I straighten up, I clear up. Bad , black issues in my life become dealable. Simply put I know better where to go.

I’m back into training and I’m just grateful for that.
So – train Hard & Smart and have a beautiful weekend with yr loved ones.
    Peace, …

  2. It was about 0400 or so (not saying where, but umong definitely in unfriendly realms) I did not wake up to an alarm clock or the morning chirp of flying birds, but rather a stomch rupturing explosion, sending myself and my fly cover rolling over a small incline I was backed against in this semi-dense tropical forest. I knew immediately what is was and who did it, but can’t say now. the first cognizant thought, was were we my fellows, I fumbled out of my tent, pain radiating down my legs and pucnhcing me in my stomach. Fire light was in the bushes and luckily the moon was still hanging in the far sky, I heard commands and yells, running over to the sound it was my good friend, half his hand gone, and burns across his right face, I find it odd, I was glad to see it was so “minor”, Somehow we got our shit together, us two and three others “left”
Cutting this short, I pounded my way through exhaustion, pain, fear, and even delirium to finally reach safety and to bring my friend to safety as well. I knew my body was done, I felt it was wanting to just stop, but I just went into that “mode” the feeling we often get when training. Not working out, but those days when you “train” when you push so far beyond your previous conceptions of limits that you KNOW you are now more invincible that before. That is what got me out, got my friends out, got us home, save for one more who succumbed on the flight. Waking up in ICU, found out my small intestine was gone, twisted upon impact, and ruptured some time after, my collar bone was broke and needed a plate, and that my bowel was septic and I was about 1hr away from deep eternal sleep. Telling the staff what I remembered all they could say was that “it is a good thing your in such good shape or you never would have made it”. I wanted to believe that at first but when I thought about it, that was not the reason. The reason was because I knew I could always go further then I initially “felt” was possible. That is why I train, so that I know I am always pushing that level of survival and strength to its intrinsic summit, to state the simple fact that I am never “done” I can always give MORE….

Why I still train and lift heavy. One reason, to set an example For my son. To many people are lazy at my age , people think I’m strange.
At the age of 40 and stronger each day. I do more work then my younger employees, and lift more weight. my son is 8 years old and does tire flips. He has been in the gym since he was 2, did farmers carry with 5 pound dumb bells. Shows respect for the weight and is stronger each year. We train because its fun and its what we do. We landscape and we train, sometimes we train while we landscape. We like to watch cartoons to, Ha,Ha!

    1. Hey Nathan,
liked your vid the most. Loving words about your dad – you can be proud of that.

      Keep on rokin’

Also – heavy punches with tons of confidence you got there. Good bout. But remember pulling back those hands more quickly, otherwise you’ll be having a hard time with a good counterpuncher.
      Cheers

      1. Thank you Sven,

Definitely agree with the hands coming back. It was my complacency as I could see in the guys eyes before the bout started that I was going to stop him.

        Advice definitely noted 🙂

    2. Nathan–
That’s how a real man lives!
      Keep up the good work!

      1. Thanks Frank 🙂

    Hi,

I am a teenage hockey player who is chasing my dreams. I am not the biggest, not the strongestyet , not the fastest yet, not the best yeat, but other people that I am constantly around don’t have something that I do, which is an iron will and and a strong work ethic. I am 5 feet 5 inches and weigh about 160 lbs. I have been told many times that I can never amount to anything in my lif e because I am just too small. I know that other people of the same height have made it, and just like them, I too will make it. I hope you enjoy the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9znIVMkjUc

    1. Hi Zach,

Thank you so much for picking me!!!!!

Honestly it was a great pleasure to make the video.

I told my dad this morning you had picked me 🙂

He wanted to see the video, so I showed him, just before the bit where I speak about my dad I stopped the video and said that was the whole video and he said “no it isn’t there’s more, I can see theres more in the loading bit’

I didn’t really want him to see it (i don’t know why) so I showed him the rest.. My dad was in tears when he was watching it, I think with all the arguing we do he doesn’t realise how much I think of him and to be honest I never tell him how much he does mean to me.

So even of you didn’t pick me at least my dad knows what I really think about him which is more than anything in the world.

My address is 34 Morville Close, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, United Kingdom, ST42SL

      Thank you Zach.
