Beast Training – Eat and Train Like an Animal

share

Yesterday I jumped in with Judo Beast, David Ellis for a workout.

With wrestlers attending camps, Football players preparing for battle at this weekends World's Strongest Athlete Competition I was able to catch some down time and do some Beast Training, which is what I outline for you HERE (12 Full Months, SON!).

Check out yesterday's workout with The Judo Beast:

1) sled drags 2 x 200'

2) Dumbbell snatch: worked up to 2 heavy singles

3A) ring dips 3 x max
3B) mixed grip pull ups 3 x max

4A) deadlift 3 x 6 reps
4B) Kettlebell swings 3 x 6 reps

5) prowler and sled 2 x 200' (Yes, again 🙂

6) hand over hand rope pull on sled 2 x 60' rope

7A) pull ups 4 x max (Yes, I eat these for Breakfast, Son!)
7B) triceps band work 4 x 25 reps

8) grip work: rolling thunder 5 x ea. hand

The workout utilized lower sets, more volume overall, fast pace - freaking loved it!!!

Check out some prior training footage of The Judo Beast, David Ellis in action.

  1. Looks like a kick ass workout, Zacj! I love that vid of David, by the way! Dude is a monster!

  2. Got a little Ivan Drago-thing working there, David. Rock on!

[Regarding the interviewer’s question whether Drago had been given steroids as part of his training]
Ludmilla: No, Ivan is naturally trained.
Interviewer: Then how do you account for his… freakish strength?
Ludmilla: [smiles] Like your Popeye. He ate his spinach every day.

    🙂

Great to see someone putting the effort in!

    2 questions:

    1. What do you call the bar at the start of the vid where you stand inside it, like a giant tri bar?

    2. At the end when he completed the sandbag carry (nice bag!) was there a training reason for jogging off?

cheers and keep up the great work

  4. Thxn 4 the comments bruddahs!

Zero Trooper – that’s called a Trap Bar: use it for deadlifts, carries, rows, squat – high pull combo, RDL, shurgs and more!

That was a combat circuit where David would go through several movements strung together such as sled work, sandbag carries and run around the gym next door

  5. Cool Video! Looks like some interesting exercise combinations and a really killer workout!

    One question:

Are these workouts periodized- do you have them mapped out for the year? How far in advance do you plan the training of these beasts?
