STRONG Life Ep. 216, here we GO! BOOM!
This is a intense & passionate episode where I discuss the following topics:
- Being yourself
When people tell me how I need to change because I am too passionate and too intense, this last speech with Apollo and Rocky always comes to my mind.
I don't think you can just switch on and off when you're passionate or not. Why is being yourself so bad? Why is fitting encouraged?
Not for me.
Not for me........
- Being Passionate & Intense w/ NO apologies
- When is an athlete "strong enough"?
- What would I change if I was training Olympic Wrestlers, Kyle Snyder and Kyle Dake?
- Training Fads & Gimmicks & why they sometimes work! ๐

Straight-shooting, Zach!
I had a guy quit recently, he was fairly new here, because I got on him about using his phone and for chewing gum during class.
I am glad he quit so I didn’t have to kick him out.
The crazy thing is he was in his late 30’s.
If i knew he was so immature I would not have let him even start training here.
One of the best things I ever did in here was to be ready to kick uncommitted people out.
Frank, sometimes the wrong people sneak through our doors.
It happens to me as well. I interview people thoroughly but here and again, parents have a skewed perception of what their child’s work ethic truly is.
Stay the course, brother!
i could not agree more.. as an old guy ..66 yrs… i train in some way shape or form daily. kettle bells ,isos, cals, trx , mace, sandbags, bands, stairs etc.. a mix of whatever works. Folks stare at me in the park carrying a sandbag and doing pushups and bodyweight squats then swinging a mace. a guy at the community center basement ‘pit’ asked if i was training for the nfl or some sort of ‘warrior race!’….no ,just training. people at work have asked to train with me and regardless of age , condition etc. do not last more than a day or so.. too hot, cold, too intense etc. when i visited their ..’no judgement zone gym’ i was ‘judged ‘ by the staff and patrons for being out of synch with their paradigm for doing overhead pushups and double weighted plate swings….i went out into the parking lot and did 8 sets of my homemade battle ropes while folks stared at me thru the window in air conditioning. cell phones , abound, pictures are snapped doing foam rolling and all thru various non serious workouts!!1 crazy world … i believe i will stay with the ‘underground folks in the agoge!!” keep putting out the word!! ‘ i train alone… yeah with nobody else!! and when i train alone .. i prefer to be by myself!!’
Richard, I LOVE what you’re doing, my brother!
Keep attacking Life!!
