It's interesting......

As I am about to write I say to myself, Who's even going to read this? Barely anyone. That's OK. I NEED to write about this. It's therapeutic for me.

There's no "hook" in writing this article because like the majority of my articles, I will write about the same message:

  • Hard Work
  • Sticking to the Basics
  • Squats, Deadlifts & Basic Barbell Work
  • Being Tough

That's OK.

I have ZERO desire to fit in to this world let alone this "industry" - which I have no desire to be part of either.

The squat rack above is in the yard of a gym called Fitness City in Matawan, NJ. Those steel tubes look like they are used for beams in a house. They gave me a slight flash back of the first gym I bought used equipment from. It was in Newark, NJ. The guy was a welder and he welded EVERYTHING.

His squat rack was similar, going from the ground to the ceiling.

The rack was built like a tank.

The dumbbells were welded with plates such as York, Billard, Jackson, Ferrigno and Dan Lurie.

To me, this is home. A place of work. No frills. But in the year 2019, that is NOT the place for the majority. We do NOT lay on a bench and check our phones in between sets. WTF is that?

Yes, there was AC in the gym (house) but what if there wasn't? Could you handle it or would you need to go elsewhere?

When an athlete or parents tell me their son is training at the local globo gym, He's doing everything you taught him, they do NOT understand it's different.

In between sets their on their phones. Goofing off with a friend. Intensity goes WAY down. How much are you sweating with the AC blasting? What about that music? Good ol' pop music blasting, everywhere you look "they" have their heads down, on their phones. It sucks the energy right out of you.

I will NOT be like "them".

How you practice is crucial. If it is all so perfect and comfortable, how can it actually be effective?

The answer is, anything that is easy and comfortable is NOT going to be effective. Easy things do not transform you physically and they sure as hell do NOT transform your mentally.

My work is not for everyone. Writing helps me clear my thoughts. Those who read and learn from my experiences likely do not fit into the "normal" ways of the world either.

Always be ready to stand alone and Walk alone.
