Hands too small? Mouth too big?
By admin | May 14, 2008
Developing strong hands is critical to athletic success and your ability to move BIG weights.
While training a newbee today and taking him through some unique strongman tire training movements, he almost quit literally 2 seconds into the movement. He said, “Oh man, my hands are too small, I can’t do it.”
My reply….

Way of the Warrior
By admin | May 14, 2008
I believe in training for combat at all times. Yes, I want strength, and yes, I want rugged, ripped muscles and YES, I want to keep my edge and improve my mental toughness.
The last thing I enjoy feeling is that little slip of mental toughness….this is why I believe everyone should push to the limits, keep training at a fast pace and work hard as heck to break personal records.
Even for powerlifting, I want to see a fast pace to work new muscle fibers and improve work capacity.
Training like a warrior ensures that you will not only look fit, but you will also be ready for the most intense times.
Today, I had a trial with a fellow bodybuilder who I had known for a good 10 years. This guy was ripped and looked like a Greek statue!

Save BIG on Mother’s Day
By admin | May 7, 2008
As a husband, a father, and of course, first and foremost, a son to my mother, Mother’s Day has take on new meaning to me.
It’s a BIG deal. If you’ve been reading my Blog, you know how proud I am to be a father, and how seriously I take it. Without my mother, without my wife….things would be quite different around here.
As challenging as it is to balance all of these amazing things in my life I am very, very blessed.
And, I need to make sure I kick some serious ass for my wife this Mother’s Day. She is pregnant and due in June, but feeling “early”.
Plus, she is always cooking for me and helping me keep my head on straight, because as you know all too well, I am a bit crazy….just a bit
I’m going to be reducing the price of 2 of my e books until Monday morning, 7 AM EST.
Check em out here….big savings on two bad ass e book…

my underground bodybuilding methods
By admin | May 7, 2008
I have been getting back to my roots lately, even with my time crunched workouts, I’m hitting the underground bodybuilding methods and it’s paying off big time.
It’s amazing how quickly you can add muscle and strength when you’re putting together the right formula.
Most of the time, as you know, my workouts are rockin’ at warp speed.
I’ve been finding ways to mix bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman and gymnastics type movements into one pot.
I guess you always go back to your roots
I was looking at my current strength on certain lifts, such as squats and benching and saw that my numbers were VERY big back when I was bodybuilding.
I squatted 455 for sets of 6 - 10, squatted 315 for 20 - 25 reps, squatted 225 for 45 - 50 reps. My bench was at 275 for sets of 6 - 8. But, now I am deadlifting 550 lbs, farmer walks with 200 lbs per hand, dragging sleds that weigh almost 400 lbs and much more.
Now the brutal combination of past and current knowledge is meshing together.

Q & A and stories on grip strength
By admin | May 6, 2008
Got a question via e mail and wanted to share this bad boy….
Question: I own a small gym in St Louis and have recently added a few thick bars to my collection. I had a new member ask me an interesting question the other day, he wanted to know what muscles were benefiting from using a thick bar that would not benefit by using a regular size bar. He also asked if you only used the thick bar would that hurt him in the long run because he is a pitcher and a quarterback on his high school team. I told him that I would ask someone with more knowledge than I had on the subject.
Please help
DeAndtre D.

I don’t see this much…
By admin | May 6, 2008
Just making sure you’re deadlifting….if not, maybe this pic will motivate you.
Lift big weights off the ground, lift them overhead, pull them from the ground up, push them and pull them….squat them….
Get to work.

he trained with me in my Dad’s garage
By admin | May 5, 2008
Wow, those were some wild days.
Back when I FIRST began taking on clients as a profession, a five bucks per hour profession none the less
I was training a few athletes from my Dad’s garage, his backyard and the local parks.
At the time, Kurt, was a high school basketball player.
His Dad owned a truck and I offered to train him all summer for free if he can help me pick up some gym equipment.
I purchased a long dumbbell rack, a chin - dip combo bar, a boat load of rusty ivanko plates and a barbell.
Good times.
I had some other tools in the garage, stuff that was confusing to me as I never used it, but my close friend used these tools like crazy and he was training everyone with them
I’m talking about stability balls and balance discs.

it’s going down!
By admin | May 5, 2008
This Saturday, our LIFT Strong fundraiser is going down.
The competition will be heated and anyone who doesn’t have the eye of the tiger is lunch meat for the rest, it’s that simple.
The training has been hard, but maybe not hard enough. You know I am ultra motivated after seeing DeFranco’s documentary and the recent video I published about “Living”.
There will be lots of spectators, remember, you’re also invited
The events will be: Read the rest of this entry »

Another most inspirational video!
By admin | May 3, 2008
This was passed on to me by a close friend and actually my first ever business coach, Jim Labadie.
Between this video and seeing Joe D’s movie premiere, things are about to radically change for me. I hope you’re on the path of finding yourself as well
Enjoy….
