Our Underground Strength Coach Cert. for September is now closed and filled up :) The first ever cert. was un-freakin-real and it really blew the roof off the gym. It was better than I ever planned or expected. Yes, things went that great! For those of you who have e mailed me for possible internship, I have more than likely found our next intern and I want to thank everyone for taking the time to send in applications. If you're looking to learn as much as possible form what I do and how I do … [Read more...]
The Rogue Warrior said…
Happy Father's Day for my Dad's reading this. For the ladies, please pass on my best wishes to the father's you know :) Long, long time ago I read a book called 'Rogue Warrior'. It was very motivating and I couldn't put it down. I remember the guy who reccomended it to me, he was a regular customer at GNC when I was 18 and working there, putting gas in my car for the gym trek I made every other day :) He told me about this book with all the tough things this guy did, so, with my … [Read more...]

Muscle Building Back in My Early Days…
When I first began setting up shop in my new home, in my 2 car garage, I was starting fresh. A brand new life of weight lifting. No more lame gyms, crappy music, depressing environments and finally, NO more rules! The energy was awesome, whether I trained alone or with a friend, it was like being in Heaven, I can only imagine :) This got me feeling like I was starting my training all over again, age 13, back at the OLD Metuchen YMCA. It was a hardcore place, lots of rusty York olympic … [Read more...]
Lucky? I don’t think so!
My wife was watching FOX news a few hours ago and I caught a few minutes with her. I'm not a big news watcher, too much negativity for me. The interesting thing that caught my attention was the guest they had on the show who was the founder for the NAAO, National Action Against Obesity. The newscaster was trying to make her feel bad about the entire airplane seating debate for being obese and how some people are big bones, etc, etc. ALL the excuses were raining down and MeMe Roth stayed tough … [Read more...]
Poker or Chase the Dream?
I was at a coffee shop one day and the guy working there saw my Underground shirt on. He told me he saw us on you tube, heard about us, saw us in the paper. He told me he was trying out for the nearby minor league Baseball team, but he never made the cut the year before. He was a skinny dude, no doubt, so, I asked him, what are you doing now to change that? … [Read more...]
Time for change
Change can be a good thing. I am feeling a need for change. It starts from a point much deeper than my emotions, it's just a Gut feeling I have. I find myself running home rather than driving home. I begin removing favorites such as squats and deadlifts, and return to a lot of bodyweight training, kettlebell workouts, sandbags and sledge hammers. Sprinting becomes more common place, as does jumping, dragging sleds and running with the prowler. Removing breads, milk and dairy from … [Read more...]

A TOUGH Wrestling Conditioning Workout (Even If You Don’t Wrestle)
Last night I went to the neighboring downtown with my family as everyone got some ice cream. In case you're wondering, I skipped the ice cream part :) Don't worry, I'm still human, I eat ice cream, but I'm on a mission, and that will require doing what others don't do. This time around, I won the ice cream battle. On the way home, about half way there, my wife dropped me off on the side of the road so I could run the rest of the way. I was fired up and even a bit disappointed in myself. I … [Read more...]
The Power of Hand Walking
I have been a big believer in hand walking ever since my undergrad class in Gymnastics back in 1996. My instructor was Mr. Gonzalez, he was an All American Wrestler and the owner of a Gymnastics school. He was a no nonsense type of guy. His physique was ripped and rugged, built like he was carved from stone. One of the students in my class was wrestling for the University as a freshman when Mr. Gonzalez was a Senior. He told me how Mr. Gonzalez would do back flips to escape from take downs … [Read more...]
