When I was 13 I started getting heavily into bodybuilding. But what impacted me most was the info found in the original, Arnold Schwarzenneger Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding. In this HUGE book were tons and tons of black and white photos of the rugged bodybuilders from the 50's - 70's. These guys were more like what I call a "power-bodybuilder". They hit heavy deadlifts, heavy olympic lifts, heavy powerlifts, heavy cheat curls, HEAVY EVERYTHING. They developed incredibly rugged, … [Read more...]
“Sky’s the limit!”
If you're in a slump, don't worry, I'll help you step it up and make your way out of it. It's mind power, and you and ONLY you can control your mind. The mind must be trained, just like your body, if you want it to be strong, powerful, mighty and fierce. I can relate to you, trust me, I have heard many tell me I can't do "it", and what I'm doing won't work, etc, etc. Other "Big" names try to stop me, trash talk me and slow me down. Sorry, there will be NONE of that. I'm picking up momentum … [Read more...]
What trail are you blazing?
So, you wake up every morning, same routine, same time, same breakfast, same..... You know the routine, dontcha? Well, let me make you feel a bit uncomfortable for a moment, and uncomfortable is good, it's REALLY good. Because when you get comfortable, you start letting life slip through your finger tips... Not good. I wake up every morning and fall asleep every night with a vision, a vision that gives me chills. I want people to do what they love, I want people to make a living following … [Read more...]
It’s a battle of will
Man, I am getting fired up, maybe too much. When you do something you love, there should be no excuses, no complaining and complete animal like energy! I have done things here and there that I truly was not into, and I could tell, the energy just wasn't there. But, if you have committed to entering a contest, then you must step it up and get rid of the mind games. There is no tomorrow, there is no being tired, there is no excuse making....or.......the competition will eat you for breakfast, … [Read more...]
Power Talk with Jonny Hinds of The Monkey Bar Gym
On my one hand, I can count those who have REALLY influenced me in training AND in life. Without hesitation, Jonny Hinds is one of those people. I connected with Jon maybe 2 or 3 years ago by phone, after Pat Miletich, the MMA Coach and former UFC Champion, sent me his way. I would spend over an hour on the phone talking about physical culture and nutrition every time we chatted. We would philosophize about life and exchange cool training and life stories and experiences, and, I'll admit, … [Read more...]
Underground Strength Trips to the unknown
Yesterday I took a ride a to a tire yard, off in the back woods of a small town in NJ. There were tires upon tires from all types of trucks, tractors and who the heck knows what else and where else. I snagged a small tire around 300 lbs. or so. We needed something in between our 150 and 600 lb. tires. The irony was that Kurt followed me to the tire yard with his Dad's pick up truck. The same pick up truck we used 5 years ago to get my used gym equipment from a barn in NJ! I still … [Read more...]

Making me cry…doing what you love….
Last night my wife and I rented the movie, 'The Bucket List' from DirecTV. It hit me hard, REALLY hard, and of course, had me thinking like crazy about a lot of things. The list is on now :) But, it reminded me of a person near and dear to my heart, someone who made the biggest difference in my business, and, if it were not for him, there's a good chance I wouldn't be writing this. I would likely still be satisified doing what I used to do, and only training athletes here and there on the side, … [Read more...]
Another Day in the Office
No fancy chair for me, no pretty desk to hide behind, only the challenge to lead from the front. Is it really a challenge, or, is it a choice? ONLY You decide! In Strength, --Z-- P.S. - This style of training is not for everyone. The psyche certainly pushed everyone harder, as we competed against one another. Technique loosened up a bit and insanity certainly jumped up more than a few nothces. It's time you began taking part in the Underground movement. Do it here: The Underground … [Read more...]
