What were you Born to do?
Here we go, another one of my "deep" posts for you. I hope this will make you think and take action. You see, about 1 1/2 years ago I was having dinner at my friends home in Florida, Ryan Lee. We were speaking about my readiness to open a gym so I can do what I love most, which is training athletes, especially young athletes, and getting them STRONG. I love the internet, but, I need fresh air, I need to wrap my hands around iron and sweat like my athletes do. He told me to do what I … [Read more...]
Can you hear it, Can you feel it?
I was 23 years old and spending 2 weeks in Los Angeles as I was heavily thinking of moving out west. Every day I took a trip for a few hours into Venice, trained at the weight pit, trained at Gold's Venice, ate at the famous Fire House restaurant where I ate their very popular "Bodybuilder's Breakfast" - this was a 6 egg white omelette, a 6 oz flank steak, 3 whole grain pancakes and then I added fresh fruit on the side and a BIG glass of iced tea. I was in heaven. Bodybuilding was my passion, … [Read more...]
Muscle Building Back in My Early Days…
When I first began setting up shop in my new home, in my 2 car garage, I was starting fresh. A brand new life of weight lifting. No more lame gyms, crappy music, depressing environments and finally, NO more rules! The energy was awesome, whether I trained alone or with a friend, it was like being in Heaven, I can only imagine :) This got me feeling like I was starting my training all over again, age 13, back at the OLD Metuchen YMCA. It was a hardcore place, lots of rusty York olympic … [Read more...]
Train through this
Training is easy when you wake up after 8 hours sleep, someone does your laundry, cooks for you, and there is all the time in the world to do what you want. Those days ended long ago for me, but, that doesn't mean those days will never come back. Having a Chef and a cleaning team is certainly something I plan on having, but, in the mean time, I am usually getting 5 - 6 hours of sleep per day, working from 7 am - midnight. Training is never perfect with such a schedule, and getting strong, … [Read more...]
Busy Man Fitness with a Kettlebell
I got myself 2 bad ass Kettlebells because the training will likely be at home now that we have our baby boy about to move in :) Yes, I own a gym, but, I still love those backyard / outdoor workouts with all the freedom to sprint, jump, throw Kettlebells around, carry stones and who knows what else I'll be doing with my Kettlebells and mother nature. Without a doubt, one of the toughest complexes I have ever done is The Combat Complex using a 70 lb Kettlebell. Check the video below and you'll … [Read more...]
It’s FREE and Awesome!
Ya gotta love these...they're FREE and they get you freaking strong! My motivation all began when I visited the tire yard in town, and I spent about 30 seconds wrestling a tire to flip it over, which damn near killed me. Then, the "Tire Yard Freak" walked up, took a few puffs of his cigarette, threw it down, and flipped the tire 3 times in a row....no knee lift, ALL power. Just a pure FREAK! His strength shook me up and woke me up. Why? Because he wasn't a guy "lifting weights" in the gym, he … [Read more...]
Lucky? I don’t think so!
My wife was watching FOX news a few hours ago and I caught a few minutes with her. I'm not a big news watcher, too much negativity for me. The interesting thing that caught my attention was the guest they had on the show who was the founder for the NAAO, National Action Against Obesity. The newscaster was trying to make her feel bad about the entire airplane seating debate for being obese and how some people are big bones, etc, etc. ALL the excuses were raining down and MeMe Roth stayed tough … [Read more...]
In the back of a truck…
At one point in time, my "gym equipment" was very little, and it all fit into the back of my SUV....with plenty of room to boot :) I used three training tools and if I was limited to these 3 things I would still be able to develop bad ass athletes and awesome strength, power and conditioning for myself. … [Read more...]
Underground Bodybuilding in a garage
With the busy times hitting me hard, there is no fear. Most people would give up and skip workouts entirely. I'm simply gonna grab a little piece of my 2 car garage back. It used to be filled entirely with gym equipment, all my Underground tools. Now that I own a gym, my wife took it over :) I have a few Kettlebells in there now, and will bring an old curling bar to the garage and 2 olympic dumbbells so I can load them up with 25 lb plates for some heavy duty Underground … [Read more...]
