I've been working around a nagging shoulder & bicep injury but finding a way to get it done and make it happen. The years and years of training are piling up since 1989 but I am grateful for all that happens to me as it makes me smarter and stronger. As I mentioned in the last STRONG Life podcast, "Everything that happens to you is the BEST thing that happens to you". The video below is Part 3 in the feature of my training where I dig deep and connect with my Warrior spirit. I have zero … [Read more...]
STRONG Life Ep 52: Turning Your Struggles Into Strengths & Obstacles Into Opportunity
The weather in the north east has been pretty damn cold this year and like last year, the pipes at my gym froze up. But, last year, no pipes broke, so I kinda felt that this year I would get lucky. There is only so much you can do in a cold ass warehouse when water pipes are places 1 inch away from an outside cement wall. So when things went south, I had a choice: I could let them take me over or I could rise above and take them over. YOU get the same choices. We all do. None of us are … [Read more...]
How & Why You Must Train Your INNER Warrior
Even the nicest guy / gal has an inner Warrior spirit. And even if you live in a town as nice and safe as where The Brady Bunch lived, you must train the mind, body and spirit to not only handle tough times, but to THRIVE in those times. Tough times are coming. They are always right around the corner in some shape or form. Training in a manner that connects you to your Inner Warrior is not going to be your typical workout. There has to be a sense of discomfort. Furthermore, you must LOVE the … [Read more...]
5 Thoughts On Clint Eastwood, The P**sy Generation & Russian Hockey
It's been an interesting day and a LONG day. I woke up around 3:30 AM and couldn't fall back asleep. I laid in bed hoping to fall back asleep before my 4:47 AM alarm. I heard the wind howling and I tried but couldn't fall back asleep so I got out of bed around 4:10 AM. Had some tea and started writing. I like to wake up early and get to work before anyone in my house is awake, including the dogs. I get a LOT of work done in that 60 - 90 minute window, BUT, there is also a sense of power … [Read more...]
STRONG Life Ep. 51: Viking Manhood Lessons & My Thoughts
In a previous blog post someone mentioned that I MUST read the article by Chad Howse on 'Viking Manhood Lessons'. When I followed the link and read through the article I was fired up. I loved it. It inspired me to lift heavy shit and crush my workout that day. I was inspired to eat more meat and veggies. I was inspired! That's what I do. I find inspiration through many things. I find the good in things, the lessons and ways to improve from what comes across my eyes. Then.... I came across … [Read more...]
STRONG Life Ep. 46: AWESOME QnA, Training Different Athletes, Lehigh Wrecking Crew & NO Best Biz Books
It's been a while since I've crushed a STRONG Life Podcast and I am sorry. My voice has been MIA for a solid 3 weeks and it's on the way back. I felt great physically but my voice didn't work. In this episode, we have a loaded QnA which allowed me to delve into some awesome topics that you will love! … [Read more...]

A Wrestling Documentary Everyone Must Watch: The Season | Iowa Wrestling
Back when I was coaching wrestling this wrestling documentary was featured. The year was 2003 I believe. I recorded this with a VHS tape, ha ha. At the time my girlfriend asked me to go out and I remember telling her I was busy! It was 2 weekends in a row and I was counting down the days and hours until I could watch part 2 on ESPN that weekend. The lessons learned and insight from this documentary STILL inspires me well over a decade later. Whether you wrestle or not doesn't matter, you will … [Read more...]

Marcus Luttrell Speaks to Alabama Football Team (WHAT You ARE!)
So many people complain about life and how tough of a life they have. Ironically, these complainers often have a nice job, a nice car, a roof over their head and more. Somehow, someway, they still find a way to talk as if their life is so tough. Athletes complain about how busy they are, blame the ref for losing, complain about their coaches, etc. These are the same athletes who have opportunity all around them to do things to become better. They have the time and resources but find excuses and … [Read more...]
