I am always finding inspiration. For some reason, everything I see inspires me in some shape or form. I am inspired to be better than I currently am as well as to not be like the things I see that bother me. I've tried to change, to calm down, to be less intense or less serious or even less passionate but it lasts very little. I'm just not a calm guy who lets things slide. I'm intense, passionate and fired up. It's like telling Dan Gable to stop being so intense. It doesn't work. It will … [Read more...]
Navy SEAL Ethos, How Success Leaves Clues & Why Your Work Ethic Adds Up
Here is a small excerpt from The Navy SEAL Ethos to preface some of my influence behind the way I think and the way I pay attention to things: We demand discipline. We expect innovation. The lives of my teammates and the success of our mission depend on me – my technical skill, tactical proficiency, and attention to detail. My training is never complete. Even before coming across The Navy SEAL Ethos I was analytic of my own training and life decisions for a very, very long time. It led me to … [Read more...]
Warrior Training & Defeating Mr. Resistance
Above, new art work at The Underground Strength Gym.... The day before I had a good workout. Not a Great workout, just good. Good is the death of Greatness, don't forget that. I was motivated to crush today's training and needed some heavy weights and to feel some pain. I call this a Warrior Workout. In this Video I explain how I went through this Warrior Workout, how I changed my mindset and how I overcame and punched Mr. Resistance in the face...... … [Read more...]
How To Maximize Your Strength Gains & Greatness Through Being Relentless
I've been so friggin' inspired and fired up lately that it is ALL firing me up MORE, if you can imagine that. 1 thing that has been coming my way a lot is other Coaches reaching out for my help because they want to make change. They want to transform an average team into an extraordinary team. They want their gym to be filled with motivated athletes who are consistent and aggressive without always needing a reminder to work hard. What I remind them of is that if any of my training is to work, … [Read more...]
The Warrior Mindset, Lifestyle & Training Around Injuries
After spending some time on the phone with a friend of mine who is veteran of war, we got into discussing what a "Warrior" is. I thought he was gonna tell me that no one should call themselves a Warrior UNLESS they fought in War. I was wrong. The conversation reminded me a bit of some of the times I spent talking life, lifting and being a Warrior with none other than The Ultimate Warrior. We didn't speak about men with guns. We spoke the misuse and misrepresentation of the word, … [Read more...]
STRONG Life Ep 52: Turning Your Struggles Into Strengths & Obstacles Into Opportunity
The weather in the north east has been pretty damn cold this year and like last year, the pipes at my gym froze up. But, last year, no pipes broke, so I kinda felt that this year I would get lucky. There is only so much you can do in a cold ass warehouse when water pipes are places 1 inch away from an outside cement wall. So when things went south, I had a choice: I could let them take me over or I could rise above and take them over. YOU get the same choices. We all do. None of us are … [Read more...]
How & Why You Must Train Your INNER Warrior
Even the nicest guy / gal has an inner Warrior spirit. And even if you live in a town as nice and safe as where The Brady Bunch lived, you must train the mind, body and spirit to not only handle tough times, but to THRIVE in those times. Tough times are coming. They are always right around the corner in some shape or form. Training in a manner that connects you to your Inner Warrior is not going to be your typical workout. There has to be a sense of discomfort. Furthermore, you must LOVE the … [Read more...]
STRONG Life Ep. 51: Viking Manhood Lessons & My Thoughts
In a previous blog post someone mentioned that I MUST read the article by Chad Howse on 'Viking Manhood Lessons'. When I followed the link and read through the article I was fired up. I loved it. It inspired me to lift heavy shit and crush my workout that day. I was inspired to eat more meat and veggies. I was inspired! That's what I do. I find inspiration through many things. I find the good in things, the lessons and ways to improve from what comes across my eyes. Then.... I came across … [Read more...]
The Value of Teaching Work Ethic & Avoiding The Delusional
Above, Opportunity knocks for those WILLING to work their ass off to get it. A crew of CUSC (Certified Underground Strength Coaches) at Elliott Hulse's Strength Camp. Some "get it" and some don't. Some think that what they see on the surface is what you get and the way it's always been. They see a pumping gym and assume it was easy. They don't see the tens of thousands of dollars (perhaps over 100 thousand) invested in training and business knowledge. They don't see the struggles that were … [Read more...]
