Chad Waterbury and I "met" about 12 years ago through the interwebs. Back then he had long flowing locks and wrote for T Nation on the regular while I was testing his encouragement of following his popular program of 10 sets of 3 reps. In 12 years, a LOT can change. Since then Chad has been living in Santa Monica, Ca. He has immersed himself in bodyweight training by getting coaching from a Russian Gymnastics Olympic Coach, is about to embark on his PhD journey and he no longer has the hair of … [Read more...]

Is The “Perfect Workout” Holding Back Your Bad Assery?

Dads: Why You MUST Be STRONG
Sometimes I feel my heart actually hurt. It actually, truly does ache. This September will be the FIRST year that BOTH of my kids will be in school full time. Since they've been born, I've been used to them knocking on my door, climbing through my office window, shooting me with nerf guns while being interviewed and spending amazing times with my kids. You've likely seen my fishing videos on Instagram with my son as well, like this one (NOTE: My son has the BEST laugh in the world). I've … [Read more...]
Russian Wrestling Training
Around 2003 I read the book 'Secrets of Soviet Sports & Fitness Training', today is called 'Russian Secrets.... Dr. Yessis wrote the book in the early 70s, before I was born I believe. Animal Warm Ups & Upper Body Training for Wrestling Strength (Bodyweight & Kettlebell Workout)
Anytime you think you're too busy to warm up, think again. Regardless of your age, it never pays to be "too busy" for a proper warm up. Give yourself 5 minutes to hit a warm up specific to your workout and mobilize 1 or 2 areas of your body that need attention. The "I'm too busy" excuse is never acceptable. Even for myself. When I say this BS excuse in my own mind or to others, I deserve a punch in the face. Whether or not you wrestle is also irrelevant. Although the Video below shows some of … [Read more...]

Gladiator Story: HARD WORK Is The Best Feeling I’ve Had In My Entire Life
I had a conversation with a buddy of mine who coaches in the pros. I saw a video of a "Coach" who was shown training some of the BEST pro football players in the NFL. And guess what? They were box squatting wrong. But, because he is shown on film training pros, the perception is that this Coach is better than someone who doesn't train pros, like myself. I've been mastering my craft for a long time and continue to chip away every day. I get to see transformations of athletes as they put in … [Read more...]
5 NO BS Training Tips & “Over The Edge” Workouts
At age 38 I am NOT supposed to be getting stronger and better, according the naysayers and the "experts" that is. In fact, even if you are younger OR older than me, you likely hear from everyone else... all the "experts", that you shouldn't do this or should do that.... bla bla bla I've been training since 1989 and have been training others literally since my high school days, when friends would call me so I could meet them at the gym and train them. I wanna share some hard hitting lessons … [Read more...]
