I've been going through my old magazines from the 50s and 60s and really love seeing the nutrition basics. And a few weeks ago, someone sent me my original paper back of The Way to Live, which I recreated into The Russian Lion Power Course. So now, I am going through and rereading some of George Hackenschmidt's nutrition, training and lifestyle tips. Everything was so simple and yet so effective when we look at the nutrition and training tips dating back to the Physical Culture era (early … [Read more...]
Gladiator Bodybuiliding of the 60s & 70s
The Golden Era of Bodybuilding (the 70s) brought on the high volume approach to training. Before this, many of these men trained 3 x week with a full body workout, which is STILL a GREAT program. Men like Steve Reeves built amazing physiques that are still the highest standard for today. Can YOU get Stronger Than Guys On Steroids? Yes, Here’s How.
I have been accused of being on steroids since I was in high school. I STILL remember those days. It was as if none of the kids could fathom someone building muscle. Looking back, I have to laugh. I trained with infinite mistakes and could have made 10X the progress if I had a mentor with someone who knew what they were doing. I just kept on training till they picked me up :) 18) My subscription to FLEX … [Read more...]
Days of Thunder Bodybuilding…..
It was September of 1994. I was training at a now defunct gym, it was legit "hardcore", called Dynamic Fitness. Such a shame that it had to end, but it did. I'll never forget that gym. It shaped me and inspired me for a lifetime..... My friend and aspiring pro bodybuilder was there catching a workout and I told him of my plans to compete in a bodybuilding show for 1995. He said "Train with me, I'm doing the Jersey in April and we can train together". I was psyched! Andy was a freak. He was … [Read more...]
