So, the last video really had your emotions stirred up. Some were pissed off that I was pissed at a kid who was once natural went the drug route and talked a BIG game with nothing to back it up.
When I’m asked to describe my own workouts, they tend to be coined as something called Power-Bodybuilding.
We are ALL “bodybuilders” – we build our body, period.
Here is a recent workout of my very own, check it out:
1) Zercher Squat 5 x 1 – 5 reps
2A) Double Kettlebell Clean & Press 4 x 5
2B) Mixed Grip Pull Ups 4 x max reps
3A) Grip work using Rolling Thunder, Hex Dumbbell Holds & Captains of Crush for 6 sets total
3B) abdominal work using gymnastics rings for stability and various angles of planks.
4) Sled / Prowler work: 4 x 200′

Last June I held the first ever USC Certification. Dudes rolled up from all over the USA AND around the world. A few ladies have cruised through as well
Everyone who follows the methods as I coach them through goes on to kick major ASS and start doing what they love.
And they do this all without the investments, the partners, the loans and the pocket emptying expenses that most dudes experience.
Things are changing BIG time with The USC Cert and this April 25 and 26 will be the LAST USC Certification of it’s kind.
That’s right, I will NOT be holding another certification course like this where my A – Z business blue print and training system is dished out so candidly. I can’t reveal the details of where Underground is going just yet, but it is going to be KICK ASS and will actually offer Bigger & Better things for those who take the step towards liberating themselves and going for what they want!
Things are changing….
Let me just say this is James Bond type info and I will be taking REALLY GREAT CARE of those who are on the inside of The Underground Family.
OK, OK, maybe since I’m from Jersey this is more Soprano’s Mob type stuff rather than James Bond type stuff
In a nut shell, those who attend the last USC Cert of it’s kind this April will have a special IN on the upcoming changes coming to The Underground. I announced this before and I am annoucning it again – NO tire kickers allowed, just those who wanna go after their dreams hard core style!
Let me preface all this by saying that the upcoming changes are geared towards those who REALLY want to do what they love while running a business on their own terms!
Where was I 4 Years Ago….
Heck, 4 years ago I was training athletes at thugged out playgrounds where people smoked pot and drank beer and today I run the gym of my dreams, 2 – 3 hours a day, making a full time income, NO weekends AND we have a waiting list to get in.

I’m a BIG believer in carriyng heavy shit.
It requires you to perform an explosive power clean at the beginning of every set.
Then, you must wrestle the object into position.
Carrying the objects in different positions force your trunk to work overtime and you must stabilize like a MoFo – you dig bruddah?
Watch this video and see all the “equipment” you can carry!
There is plenty of “equipment” you can carry in addition to what you just saw.

The people who are crying over who started to train with sandbags first can finally SHUT UP!!
Before any of us were BORN athletes, strongmen and military were using sandbags.
I have books from the early 1900′s and late 1800′s showing this.
The cool thing about sandbags is you can use them for strength, power, adding muscle / bodybuilding and / or general physical conditioning.
There are NO rules and they are easy as heck to make!
Try doing this workout for a nice mix of strength AND bodybuilding training:
1A) Sandbag clean & press 5 x 5 reps
1B) mixed grip pull ups 5 x submax reps (leave 1 – 2 reps in the tank)
2A) Sandbag on shoulder step up 3 x 8 ea. leg
2B) push ups on rings 3 x max reps
3A) overhead sandbag carry 2 x 100′
3B) zercher sandbag carry 2 x 100′
That workout oughtta rock you BIG time and you can add this as a training day in addition to any of the training you do, regardless of your focus being bodybuilding, powerlifting or just pure strength training.
Give it a go and kill it!

Flip flops, deep dish York barbell plates, wooden floors, kick ass training partners and a kick ass atmosphere. What else did they need!?!?
We’re ALL “Bodybuilders” – like it or hate it, that’s the truth. We’re building our body and whoever you are reading this, you are simply using your own methods to make it look and perform the way you want it to.
I’ve been bodybuilding since age 13 and I have made a shit ton of mistakes. Many of which cost me today.
I am about to make a long list of my blunders below, many of which I am sure I will forget or leave out, but if you can help, go ahead, add your own mistakes to the list and tell us how you’ve learned and what you’re doing differently now.
- Copying the workouts in FLEX magazine – I did these set for set, rep for rep!
- ALWAYS doing forced reps, drop sets, negatives and other insane “intensity” techniques – I NEVER listened to my body. My attitude was that of a warrior and all I wanted to do was destroy my training partners and make them crawl out of the gym or quit before the workout was finished. I HAD TO WIN!
- Hello, my name is Zach, and I’m an iron addict – I trained 7 days a week and often trained 30 days in a row. HARD, every single workout. I also cut school 10 times a year so I could train in the morning and AGAIN at night. If you had more than 10 unexcused absences you went to summer school. I NEVER went to summer school
- Not enough ground based lifts - I did a boat load of exercises that allowed me to lie down or sit down.
- Not using the 50 + stones laying in my parents back yard, especially when I was a high school wrestler.
- Believing “functional” training was anything on 1 leg or using a stability ball
- Using wrist straps to hold all barbells and dumbbells which NEVER gave me stronger and deadly hands!
- Performing distance jogs - I would run 4 – 5 miles every other night starting 1 month out from wrestling season and did so all season long
- I stopped weight training in season during wrestling
- I did not utilize the jump rope nearly as much as I should have
- I should have played Football to make me meaner for wrestling
- I should have BELIEVED in EVERYTHING I did
- Not eating enough fruits and veggies on a daily basis
- Training TOO long each workout
- Not stretching
- Not incorporating recovery and prehab methods
I bet I can add a ton more to the list above, but you know how it goes, with a list so BIG, one too many things just slip my mind.
My time is NOW and so is yours. Focus on the NOW and in a nut shell, Kick Ass every second of every day!

The common myth or misunderstanding is that if you train heavy and get stronger you will be fast as hell. Not so. To move like an athlete you must incorporate athletic movements: Sprints, Jumps, Crawls, Climbing, etc in ADDITION to heavy lifts as well as explosive lifts with resistance.
Check out 2 Football Players cranking some timed jumps for power endurance and some long jumps for power development.
Train heavy, train hard, jump fast, jump high!
There’s plenty more to add to the list!

Please read this letter in its entirety.
If you have know me for some time, you’ve heard me speak about this guy, who I had never met in person before, yet he took me under his wing like a little brother, or, like he was my Uncle taking me under his wing.
Not sure what it was, but the guy thought I was alright, and I was sincere and genuine, and he saw I was super passionate about becoming successful and helping others by sharing with them what I do.
We exchanged e mails frequently, and one day our e mails became instant messages, and from there, it became a phone call….a 4 hour phone call.
This guy was doing something called “Pay it Forward” – because when he was an up and comer, everyone he asked to help him turned him down.
Our four hour phone call layed out the foundation and the blue print for my business.
Yes, I am serious, those 4 hours shot me to the top ASAP!
The shocking thing about this was that the entire time we were on the phone, I didn’t know that my friend was taking away his rest time to chat with me.
Why did he need to rest? He had tubes sticking in and out of his chest from plenty of angles, and he was going head to head, toe to toe with Stage IV Cancer.
Yea, you think you’re tough – you ain’t shit compared to this guy.
The man’s name is Alwyn Cosgrove – man or machine, not sure which he is, but this guy is beyond what my words can describe.
Whatever I try to say or do doesn’t mean or amount to 1/100th of a fraction of what this man has done for me.
In fact, if it wasn’t for Alwyn, you and I would probably not have the relationship we have. I would not have this Blog, my gym, or the knowledge to spread my wisdom your way.
Alwyn has left a legacy inside of me.
In addition, he has helped spread the knowledge and passion that has allowed him to be successful.
More importantly, he has followed the adage of “Pay it Forward”
