franco columbu flex magazine

Franco Columbu was a BEAST when it came to pull ups.

He cranked them from all angles AND added weight to them.

High reps AND low reps. Reminds me of my OLD Bodybuilding training partner…. We almost always began our workouts with chins and progressed to weighted chins. He would build up to chins with THREE 45 lb plates strapped to a weight belt! His back was THICK! It freaked people out! Heavy Chins and HEAVY barbell rows were his ticket!

Back to the legend of Franco Columbu…..

Check out this highlight of what happens when I am short on time and a bunch of Strong BEASTS roll up to The Underground Strength Gym…

Note the use of the HEAVY dumbbells, 130 – 150 lbs, ripping them off the ground for full body strength and power.

Lots and lots of weighted pull ups with mixed grips to hit the upper body from ALL angles!

People think short workouts don’t do much, I always change their mind once they train WITH me.

I say the same to the Coaches who go through my USC Certification…..

I tell them to always Live the Code, represent what we do and NEVER fall out of shape…. it can be done with fast workouts if that’s all you got. And trust me, we ALL get one of those times in life when we are crammed for time, NOT to worry.

If someone tries my short workouts and say they didn’t feel it, I know they trained like a pussy. #TRUTH

If you are busy as all hell and wanna stay strong, lean and mean, then step right up for the challenge

Train Hard or Not At All

Drop your comments below….

PS: Those were competitive strongmen going through the workout and they got blasted from it! We ALL got blasted because we went after it, full throttle.

Here is another lil’ taste of what we did during our X Mas morning Strength Gathering.

This was the FIRST time our guys rocked the atlas stone, it was great fun.

Notice how it requires strength AND athleticism. Flexibility and mobility through the hips, back and hamstrings – weak areas are exposed and mental toughness is tested.

If you think this strength gathering looked FUN, who knows what the hell is gonna happen this friday, January 9th! I’m holding a strength gathering for those attending The Underground Strength & Powerlifting Seminar, still a few spots left & you can sign up HERE.

I hope to see you this Friday & this weekend!

Kill it!

Do you quit when the going gets tough?

Do you let the naysayers bring you down and tell you how bad the economy is?

When you’re crazy busy, do you skip the workout or do you suck it up and train at midnight when everyone else is sleeping?

When you miss a lift, do you cry and go home or do you attack again?

When you see a mountain do you stop or do you climb?

It’s time to kill it, period. I am so f**ing tired of the negative dudes out there crying about the economy, about how busy they are, about this and about that.

I remove those people from my life asap! They will bring you down like the Titanic!

It’s Never Enough! You must always climb to greater heights.

I’m gonna keep on climbing and I have plans layed out to keep kicking ass, more so than ever before!

Kill it!

At the Ryan Lee Boot Camp, Senior RKC Kettlebell Instructor and grip junkie, David Whitley showed his passion for old school strength.

The guy has hands and forearms that resemble bowling pins, not the kind of guy you wanna tangle with if you catch my drift.

Does it hurt that he kills 100+ lb kettlebells on a regular basis?

I assume it can only help!

Watch David in action below.

Now that you’re motivated, go kill it with some heavy kettlebells and finish up with some beastly grip work!

Kill it!

Do you want to be strong, or do you want to be highly conditioned?

Do you want to be explosive, or do you want to be agile, mobile and hostile?

How about training for all of these traits?

I know, many people say you must specialize to get optimal results. But, in the real world, you need everything. You gotta be “in shape”, and that means having the perfect blend of many physical traits: strength endurance, power endurance, aerobic endurance, and overall conditioning.

Finding the right balance is key, and most people don’t have the discipline to let go of what they enjoy doing, when they really need to focus on what must be done.

Can one truly blend powerlifting, strongman, metabolic conditioning, gymnastics based movements, mobility and more into an overall program?

My wife was watching FOX news a few hours ago and I caught a few minutes with her. I’m not a big news watcher, too much negativity for me.

The interesting thing that caught my attention was the guest they had on the show who was the founder for the NAAO, National Action Against Obesity.

The newscaster was trying to make her feel bad about the entire airplane seating debate for being obese and how some people are big bones, etc, etc.

ALL the excuses were raining down and MeMe Roth stayed tough and pretty much said, “Hell yea, people should be stigmatized if they are fat and overweight.”

The newscaster closed out with a weak comment, saying, “Well, you’re lucky you’re skinny.”
