Minimalist Strength & Power Workouts [30 Minutes or Less] For MAX Gains In Strength

by Zach Even - Esh 2 Comments

The Garage Gym Warrior by Travis Stoetzel Finding yourself short on time when it comes to getting in a solid training session? As a husband, new dad, and owner of multiple businesses, I can tell you all about it first hand. With time being so precious, it can be tough to find a good hour or so to set aside to devote to hitting up an intense training session, but it's all about making it a PRIORITY. Everyone is “busy” but it’s the hard charging warriors that actually MAKE the time … [Read more...]

Grease The Groove (GTG) For Greater Strength [Training for Life]

by Zach Even - Esh 33 Comments

Grease The Groove is a technique I learned many years ago when reading a book from Pavel, Power To The People. Essentially, you perform an exercise of choice several times a day, several times a week (4 - 7 x week), each and every set performed when you are fresh without going to muscular fatigue. Usually, this works best when performing the practice exercise for anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks. There are several ways to apply Grease The groove (GTG) for maximum effect. … [Read more...]

Gladiator Garage Gym Workouts

by Zach Even - Esh 24 Comments

It was The Fall of 2002, and I had drawn the line...... I was up to my neck in work as a grad student plus working full time as a teacher. I was also coaching Wrestling and the season was a few short weeks away. My time was pressed to say the least. Sunday mornings I would wake up and work on research papers from 10 AM until 10 PM. It was the first time in 7 or 8 years that I was unable to make the trek to my favorite hardcore gym, Diamond Gym. I was too busy to drive 30 minutes each way, … [Read more...]

Evolution of Zach Even – Esh: From 110 lbs to 220 lbs

by Zach Even - Esh 14 Comments

Since beginning training 21 years ago I have gone from somewhere around 110 lbs to 220 and at times I've hovered around 228 lbs. My best weight is somewhere in the 204-208 lb range. Back when I started, I was 13 years old, it was 2 weeks before 8th grade was over and I would train in my big bro's room which housed a spin lock barbell and some spin lock dumbbells. Most of our weights were sand filled and I still recall the days of dumbbell benching with sand dropping in my mouth and eyes. I … [Read more...]

Underground Strength Show Ep. 104: Inspiration from Dr. Ken

by Zach Even - Esh 1 Comment

I'm a BIG fan of the good ol' days when strength was a priority. When strength is your goal you have no problems putting on size. Squats were ass to grass and deadlifts were common place. Today, everyone says they have "bulging discs" and have more excuses than ever before. The bodybuilders of The Golden Era didn't just look strong, they were strong. They walked the talk. It wasn't chemical warfare back then, it was HARD WORK. I snagged myself a dozen or so old school bodybuilding … [Read more...]

Cellar Dwellers & The STRONGEST Men You Don’t Know About

by Zach Even - Esh 4 Comments

Are you a cellar dweller? I first heard of "Cellar Dwellers" through IronMind Magazine BUT my first experience came from my middle school days seeing a guy Deadlifting in front of his house. Snow was on the ground and he had a few homemade barbells set on the lawn next to his driveway. These weren't the normal barbells you see in a gym. They were cement wheels of various sizes. I was leaving school and walking out front to meet my older brother and there was this guy, deadlifting with … [Read more...]
