There's lots of sensitivity floating around nowadays. Everyone gets offended by your words, not just from people but from words on the internet, from people they don't know and will likely never meet in person. People argue over politics, training programs, taxes, etc - then they waste hours on end posting their thoughts and feelings on websites or comment sections that will never create change in this world. The truth is, your Instagram or YouTube comment is NOT going to create … [Read more...]
Mental Toughness Workouts for Peace of Mind
I recall my high school years of training for hours on end. I would get dropped off at the gym and literally live there until the gym would almost close. Endless hours of training seemed "normal" to me. Everyone has a different sense of "normal" and I try my best not to judge but I have a difficult time relating to those who make endless excuses. I would always have different training partners because I would get frustrated with others and looking back, I was also frustrated with … [Read more...]
WHY Life Is GOOD!!
Sometimes I catch myself complaining or pulling an ol' "poor me" conversation in my head and man, it gets me fired UP! The conversation in my head sounds so weak it is pathetic. I realize how weak it is to complain when other people complain to me about things that don't effect anyone, including the complainer. When life gets too easy, you start complaining about nonsense. When life gets too easy, you begin forming opinions about topics that you are not even remotely qualified to talk … [Read more...]
Why Some Athletes Are NOT Tough!?!?
This blog post will evolve as I evolve but for now, I am standing my ground on something I have picked up on tremendously over the past few years. I've learned this when it comes to understanding why some athletes are tough and competitive while others couldn't care less if they lost / lose over and over again. After working with over 1,000 athletes at The Underground Strength Gym, I've come across kids who simply do NOT care. They will cancel workouts 5 minutes before their schedule, … [Read more...]
Small Victories for Mental Toughness
"Just find an excuse to WIN." When I want to build my mental toughness a mere extra 1%, I don't view the big goal, I take it 1 small step at a time. If I'm running, just get to the next telephone pole.... If I'm hitting a set of 20 rep squats, just get to 8, then 10, then 12.... When I get to 20.... I do 1 more, a few more times. It all adds up and these small victories build upon themselves, building momentum and in turn, greater mental toughness. During a recent training session with 1 of … [Read more...]

HOW & WHEN You Will Truly Become STRONG [Mind, Body, Spirit]
Perfection is the enemy. It gives you a false state of security. Nothing is truly perfect. You CAN build a body that looks great through pretty boy training but you will not develop the mind beyond the norms of everyone else. Do you want to be like "everyone else" or do you want to build a greater armor, a strong YOU, mind, body and spirit? This is how..... … [Read more...]
Harness Your Fear To Lift Heavier & Get STRONGER
I ain't gonna lie. I was nervous and actually kind of scared. It's been a LONG time since I felt any fear entering a training session. I was at Mark "Smelly" Bell's Super Training Gym in Sacramento, Ca. I had watched the videos for years and years, before I even owned my warehouse for The Underground I had seen guys killing weights in Smelly's gym. I had never deadlifted with bands from a platform before and I was feeling run down from all the flying and sleep deprivation. My thoughts started … [Read more...]
