laird-hamilton.jpg

Laird Hamilton is a beast of a man. He surfs waves that would sink huge cruiseliners, he defies the odds and might be seen as a God in the ocean.

Ironically, we have ourselves a modern day Laird Hamilton tearing it up at The Underground Strength Gymnasium.

At 6 feet 5 inches, Kurt Gregory started out as a super skinny guy just looking to dedicate himself to the shape he was once in. A devout surfer and a regular on the Basketball court, Kurt’s body was already in impressive shape. His strength was not very impressive, and when you’re 6′ 5″, moving big weights is tough as hell, because you are moving the weights over a very long distance.

I have been adding a boat load of videos to The Underground.

I’m getting crazeeeeeee with these videos, let me tell ya, I can’t even keep count of how many I have been adding lately :)

It’s finally a way for you to see how we do things at The Underground – raw and uncut.

Our latest video is a circuit that we put many of our combat athletes through, but, it’s perfect for anyone who wants to develop some sick work capacity. You’ll see David Ellis going through the paces as he preps for the Judo Nationals, which he just placed 3rd at.

David is quite the beast – he competes in the 200 lb category yet he only weighs 185. Strength and power endurance are critical factors for so many athletes and I personally use these circuits myself.

Why do I use them? I need to get in and out of the gym with my hectic schedule….so when the wife is callin’ me for dinner, it’s time to get BUSY!

If you’re not yet a member of The Underground, just remember, it’s a small investment that equals 3 cups of coffee a month. Plus, all members get special discounts that non members are not privvy to enjoying :)

If you have any questions for me regarding training, ask away at the forum.

I hope to see you at The Underground soon enough!

In Strength,

Zach Even – Esh

P.S. – Many people e mail me about my own personal training, and yes, you’ll see my crazy ways on video as well. I do admit, I can get a bit hyped up and I fear I’ll blow the speakers off my little Sony Camera! ha ha

See you at The Underground!

Time for some action.

Time to do it your way, finally, not anyone else’s way.

Seriously. Stop doing what you see everyone else doing. Stop copying the concentration curls, the lat pull downs, the smith machine presses….everything performed seated of course.

Every workout does NOT have to be the perfect balance of push / pull, or upper / lower body work.

Who ever said that everything must be in total harmony and balance is full of it. Ask the guys in the pen about balance and instead they’ll tell you about benching, curling and doing sit ups every single day. They’re also stronger than the majority of gym goers I have ever run into!

Breaking the rules is what leads to success very often in performance. Notice I didn’t say all the time, absolutes are impossible to come by.

I’m talking human performance and business performance. Not the type of legal rules that can put you in jail so stop making excuses before we even get you to break ONE rule.

STOP training like a pussy, plain and simple.

It’s time to rebel, to break the rules and to train like a Gladiator.

This is how Underground training was birthed….

Every Friday our ‘Gladiator Crew’ shows up to battle it out with some intense training.

A powerful mixture of powerlifting, strongman, old school bodybuilding and calisthenics are incorporated. They never know what might come next. Will it be a powerlifting focused workout, possibly tons of old school bodybuilding, or maybe an entire day of body mastery where we use nothnig but their own bodyweight?

It’s the famous saying, “What’s old is new again.”

I never invented the training with odd objects, or anything else I have done or am using.

There have certainly been new ways in program design and physiological feedback thanks to state of the art equipment, but the boat most people have missed is consistency, effort and regularity of the basics and progressive overload.

The design of the program is key, because when it organized optimally (notice I never said perfectly as there is no such “perfect” program) your results come incredibly fast!

When I see what is popular today, I have often read about in books that are sometimes 100 years old! Or, I have spoken to Strength Coaches who trained themselves in this fashion since the 60′s!

How can this “old” stuff be so powerful and is it more powerful than today’s “new stuff”?

This is why “getting under the bar” is so critical. It is the people who have years and years of experience of getting under the bar who have the best knowledge of training, Not the pencil neck keyboard gurus floating around the internet these days.

Stone lifting has been around for centuries and is a cultural norm in some areas! How amazing is that! I sure wish things were like that around here. I’d be a happy guy if the local sports bars had Dinnie stones and atlas stones out front!

In Arnold Schwarzenneger’s OLD Book, ‘Education of a Bodybuilder’ you see Arnold competing in Ice Lifting or Stone lifting in the local pubs! Great stuff right there!

Some cultures respect and revere strength while others are always struggling to find a way to become fit and strong….such as many Americans.

This is why I LOVE old strength books, stuff from the early 1900′s through the late 50′s seems to really dish out the most powerful stuff. They are filled to the brim with powerful strength secrets, and through these nuggets of gold I have learned so much, and thus it has been transferred to my membership site, http://UndergroundStrengthCoach.com, where we exchange and learn new information with a blend of new methods in program design and old school methods of strength training. We just can’t go wrong!

It is HERE where you will find my best strength secrets that countless others have neglected to find, research, use and experiment with. Yes, I am constantly getting under the bar, or anything else I can get my hands on!

This is what allows you to avoid all the mistakes others make and you can get straight to the heart of the matter, discovering the power of stone training, outdoor training, powerlifting, old school bodybuilding, developing powerful hands and a mighty grip, strongman training methods, sandbags and much, much more!

This Friday I’ll be posting some killer info on how we develop amazing strength allowing our athletes to dominate the competition.

Use this 7 Day Trial and you won’t be disappointed. If you don’t like it, cancel before your 7 days is up!
