In a recent interview I was listening to between Mike Robertson and NFL Strength Coach Joe "House" Kenn, Joe was asked an interesting question. He was asked what he would like to see more of AND what he wishes he focused on in his younger years. His answer was...... MORE Bodyweight Training, More Playground Workouts and the ability to Move your Own Bodyweight. I've personally deadlifted over 500 lbs, squatted 455 for reps, benched over 300 lbs and at 220 lbs can perform 25 pull ups … [Read more...]
2 Things Every Man Should Do
As much as I LOVE bodyweight training I still use the deadlift and the squat in some form of another with added weight. When I bail on deadlifts and squats my legs get WEAK, and as a man, I have NO room for weakness. The squats and deads help me run faster and jump higher. Running is NOT my forte so anything that helps with my runs is a plus in my book. Even if you don't squat or deadlift till your eye balls pop out of your head, that's fine, the main thing is that you do "The Thing". In Pavel's … [Read more...]

There is NO such thing as weak and successful. Not everyone who is strong is fast. And speed is not simply running around cones or ladders. Where is the force … [Read more...]

Plyometrics & Jump Training for Explosive Power
The common myth or misunderstanding is that if you train heavy and get stronger you will be fast as hell. Not so, at least not to the best possible extent. To move like an athlete you must incorporate athletic movements: Sprints, Jumps, Crawls, Climbing, etc in ADDITION to heavy lifts as well as explosive lifts with resistance. Check out 2 Football Players cranking some timed jumps for power endurance and some long jumps for power … [Read more...]
