Photo Above, from Convict Conditioning Book, by Paul Wade __________________ Hey Coach- I'm a 16 year old sophomore out of Dallas, TX, a varsity football player and wrestler. I've been a proud Undergrounder since the Summer after my freshman year, and I can't begin to tell you what incredible results I've gotten from performing simple, ground based barbell movements mixed with some light strongman work (sandbag stuff, mostly) has done for my athletic career. The UTM taught me how to program … [Read more...]
What to Do When Powerlifting Sucks?
This scenario might anger many, but, it may also be a stone throw away from happening to you. Check out this e mail I received and see my thoughts below: Zach, Just wanted to send you an email to let you know how much I appreciate how many bodyweight resources you are giving us. We've spoken via email before, but to reiterate, I played 4 years of college football at a small D3 school in Chicago. During my time there I developed chronic neck injuries that left me with Thoracic Outlet … [Read more...]
Convict Conditioning QnA & The Warrior Mindset
Here's a question I got in the e mail box regarding Convict Conditioning. Check it below: Hey Coach, I'm a 31 yr old FF. I recently bought Convict Conditioning and was blown away. I've always done bodyweight exercises to stay in shape. Lots of pullups and pushups and Squats. Used weight vests, TRX, perfect pushups, etc. I started following Coach Wade's methods and was quickly humbled. My pull up form sucks, my range of motion on my pushups is horrible. Both max numbers for each … [Read more...]
2 Critical Program Design Tips, Identifying “Dangerous” Exercises & Knowing Your Enemy
Remember that OLD school tune with Rage Against the Machine, "Know the Enemy"? Yep, Yep... well, with training, it's the same difference. After training for 22 years I am still learning more and more about my body, sometimes, ya gotta learn the HARD way. The other day I saw a video of Louie Simmons hitting rack pulls, I was inspired, and decided I too, need to do rack pulls. Problem is, I've been injured on this exercise before, even with light weights well below my max on rack pulls. Like … [Read more...]
Bodyweight Workout Post Sandbag Challenge
WOW! That John Welbourn Underground Sandbag Challenge busted me up as well as everyone else! Sometimes, you need a good ol' gut check training session! Some athletes were laying down for 5 - 10 minutes after going ALL out for 30 reps. More videos to come, but first, here is what is to be hit AFTER The Sandbag Challenge. Bodyweight training tells NO lies. It shows you if you're too heavy, too fat, too weak, in shape or out of shape. If you're training athletes, you need to place a … [Read more...]

Bodyweight Bodybuilding BEAST Workouts
Bodyweight training is in my blood, just like lifting heavy objects is in my blood. Ironically, MANY think the two don't go hand in hand, they believe it's ONE or the other. Not true, my friends, I live for BOTH bodyweight training and the heavy iron. Anyone who thinks differently is missing the boat as each one compliments the other, making you stronger in BOTH arenas. Here are 2 videos from an 8 round bodyweight circuit of Pull, Push & Jump! … [Read more...]
Bodyweight Workout for Strength AND Power
I primarily use bodyweight training for strength AND power. Here and there, conditioning circuits as well, using faster, more explosive bouts. I also like to perform bodyweight training for warm ups. High reps get the mind and body working together, the joints get lubricated and all around this keeps you young. In a nut shell, you just can't go wrong with bodyweight training. Nobody can stop you from doing the basics of squats, push ups, pull ups and sprints. I mentioned something in a … [Read more...]

Being fit and strong wasn’t an option during the 19 years that Paul (Coach) Wade spent in prison. It was a necessity. “I needed what I got from my training to stay sane, maybe even stay … [Read more...]
Underground T Shirt Inspiration Contest Winner(s)!!
Damn, this was FREAKING TOUGH!! First, I want to thank ALL the BEASTS who submitted their videos. They were truly amazing, seeing how many of you train outdoors, in your garage, at playgrounds, in basements and without the rules yet still kicking ass. The Videos have fired me UP as well as fired up many people around the world!!! The videos submitted for Underground contests in the past were often very cut and dry, you saw them, and you knew which ones were THE most inspiring. Well, this … [Read more...]
