Check out these next two videos of stone training. The stones weren’t crazy heavy so I cranked away with a circuit for strength endurance and conditioning. This is a great way to condense your workouts while still building strength, muscle and stamina.
If you’re a family man / woman, you know ALL about being limited on time. Check it….
I’ll be back to mixing the various odd objects in my workouts with powerlifting once again. I miss the barbell TOO much. Deadlifting and squatting make me feel stronger and more explosive, even if I don’t attack them with full blown heavy loads, which isn’t always the best way!
Question for YOU: How has your training evolved in the past few months. Looking forward to reading your comments and sharing with others!

If you construct a solid strength and muscle building program then you are Golden. Well, not entirely. We have recovery, mobility, flexibility and plenty other lil’ things to take care of.
Regardless, if you;re like me, you’re addicted to being STRONG.
Watch this Video First, then read the article to fully understand what I mean bruddahs and sistas:
You notice all the different carries we did here at THE END of our workout. Inside our athletes were deadlifting and tearing into Heavy Kettlebell training.
Once or twice a week, finish your workout with a form of carrying any heavy object(s) you can get your hands on:
- Sandbags
- Dumbbells
- Stones
- Strongman Implements
- Buckets of Gravel /Sand
It doesn’t really matter what the heck you carry, as long as it’s heavy and awkward, you will develop tremendous full body strength unlike ever before.
Less is more here.
Crank a few hard sets and be done, no need to drag on a workout withour reason.
I also have some more kick arse videos coming this week.
You will love them!
Wednesday night, oughtta be quite the doozie!
Joel Marion, the dude who won Body for Life e mailed me and wants to check out The Underground.
I told him he can come only if he trains, and he was crazy enough to agree
ha ha
I’m gonna film as much training as we can and see if I can give the youngster an ace whoopin’
I’ll be grilling him on how he got ripped to win the Biggest Transformation contest in the WORLD, Body for Life! If you go back as far as I do, I remmeber buying the Body for Life VHS tape for $ 15 (I actually asked my Dad to buy it for me
and the $ 15 went to a foundation that Bill Phillips favored greatly, I’m sure you know of it, The Make a Wish Foundation.
I’ll grill Joel on his nutrition wisdom while I take him for some good ol’ “Post Workout Nutrition” with some Jerzee Pizza next door none the less
I have received a boat load of questions on nutrition so if you guys have questions you want me to ask Joel on nutrition and getting lean and mean, post them in the comments section of the Blog and I will print them out and grill him with YOUR questions and make the video for YOU!
Kill it!

Flip flops, deep dish York barbell plates, wooden floors, kick ass training partners and a kick ass atmosphere. What else did they need!?!?
We’re ALL “Bodybuilders” – like it or hate it, that’s the truth. We’re building our body and whoever you are reading this, you are simply using your own methods to make it look and perform the way you want it to.
I’ve been bodybuilding since age 13 and I have made a shit ton of mistakes. Many of which cost me today.
I am about to make a long list of my blunders below, many of which I am sure I will forget or leave out, but if you can help, go ahead, add your own mistakes to the list and tell us how you’ve learned and what you’re doing differently now.
- Copying the workouts in FLEX magazine – I did these set for set, rep for rep!
- ALWAYS doing forced reps, drop sets, negatives and other insane “intensity” techniques – I NEVER listened to my body. My attitude was that of a warrior and all I wanted to do was destroy my training partners and make them crawl out of the gym or quit before the workout was finished. I HAD TO WIN!
- Hello, my name is Zach, and I’m an iron addict – I trained 7 days a week and often trained 30 days in a row. HARD, every single workout. I also cut school 10 times a year so I could train in the morning and AGAIN at night. If you had more than 10 unexcused absences you went to summer school. I NEVER went to summer school
- Not enough ground based lifts - I did a boat load of exercises that allowed me to lie down or sit down.
- Not using the 50 + stones laying in my parents back yard, especially when I was a high school wrestler.
- Believing “functional” training was anything on 1 leg or using a stability ball
- Using wrist straps to hold all barbells and dumbbells which NEVER gave me stronger and deadly hands!
- Performing distance jogs - I would run 4 – 5 miles every other night starting 1 month out from wrestling season and did so all season long
- I stopped weight training in season during wrestling
- I did not utilize the jump rope nearly as much as I should have
- I should have played Football to make me meaner for wrestling
- I should have BELIEVED in EVERYTHING I did
- Not eating enough fruits and veggies on a daily basis
- Training TOO long each workout
- Not stretching
- Not incorporating recovery and prehab methods
I bet I can add a ton more to the list above, but you know how it goes, with a list so BIG, one too many things just slip my mind.
My time is NOW and so is yours. Focus on the NOW and in a nut shell, Kick Ass every second of every day!
Kill it!

What did I di after my garage sale adventure (still more to come!)?
Check it out below….
Now…a quick note to you, but, on a serious note!
I just returned from Ryan Lee’s Boot Camp, and, exactly 2 years ago, while checking out, I ran into a guy named Dax Moy while checking out of the hotel.
He was a jacked up dude, 6’2″ a solid 230. We connected via email that very same week and I learned of his military experience as a commando, his insane training and his evolution from Military Commando to becoming one of the world’s most successful and sought after lifestyle performance Coaches.
In the past 2 years Dax and I have connected every week via e mail, without fail. The past 6 months or so have been more involved, because Dax handpicked me and invited me to enter his intensive coaching program through phone, e mail, intensive analysis calls, etc.
But, Dax created a program for everyone to benefit from, so you don’t have to wait or try to get in on his invite only coaching program.
The info is at http://theMagicalHundred.com
But, back to my story… Dax knew me well, VERY well…and I also knew he cared about me genuinely as a person. So, I understood this was an investment, and that my investment would be returned to me ten fold.
I was DEAD wrong! The investment has been returning ten fold plus the addition of several zeros. My life has been infinitely greater, and as you know, things like taking 2 family vacations during the summer, something I have never done before in my life!!! ….. much of which was possible thanks to my coaching under Dax.
Dax is THE man….in fact, I have some killer vids I did with him on success building, mindset and achieving the life you really want. I had him tie it in with his military experience and it’s damn awesome!
If you have been following me for a while, you KNOW I am a BIG success freak! I want more and more of it. I also understand the power of investing in a mentor. Dax Moy has been my mentor for 2 years and has guided me into much of who and what I am today.
Stay tuned for his videos…..
But, because of today’s date, September 22nd, we are 100 days away from the new year!
I am telling you, no matter what the heck you want to do with your life, this program is going to rocket blast your ass forwards like nothing you’ve ever known.
I won’t lie though, it is serious, serious stuff, and requires a lot of work – but it’s damn fun work and you’ll be feeling like a kid again, doing what you love, and rather than dreaming your life, you will begin living your dreams, just as I have begun.
I want you to join me.
Check out The Magical Hundred, Dax Moy’s ass kicking program, by going to http://theMagicalHundred.com
The coolest thing is that when your 100 days are over, you can start the program over again.
This is NOT for tire kickers though. I have warned you.
Only those who want MASSIVE success should take action at http://theMagicalHundred.com
Stay tuned for more crazy shiz from The Underground Strength Show!

One of my athletes is heading off to Pa. for a good month for some family vacation time. They have a place “in the woods”, so he was very worried about missing his workouts.
I told him about what we used to do in my back yard, and how powerful the underground strength training was when we first began, it was truly shocking!
We had two tree logs, a climbing rope, some stones, a few sledge hammers and that’s it!
Our wrestlers began with a 10 minute circuit of max rounds of this workout:
1) log carry around back yard x 1 lap
2) rope climb x 1 rep
3) sledge hammer swing x 10 left / right
Every week we added 2 minutes until our guys would perform the workout for 20 minutes.
Holy shit did they get insanely strong and develop some animal like conditioning! I was awe struck!
The advice I gave our young lad as he was to head off to the woods for some vacation was simple.
The tools to use would be stones, tree logs, bodyweight / calisthenics and the typical outdoorsmen type activities: hiking, trail running, swimming, kayaking, etc.
Imagine doing pull ups on tree branches, carrying stones, squatting with logs….
This is the kind of stuff that builds what I call “freak strength”, others call it “brute strength” or “unusual strength”.
Whatever you want to call “it”, know this: It’s the stuff that you want to use because the results are just too damn powerful to pass up!
Go get em’!

Training is easy when you wake up after 8 hours sleep, someone does your laundry, cooks for you, and there is all the time in the world to do what you want. Those days ended long ago for me, but, that doesn’t mean those days will never come back.
Having a Chef and a cleaning team is certainly something I plan on having, but, in the mean time, I am usually getting 5 – 6 hours of sleep per day, working from 7 am – midnight.
Training is never perfect with such a schedule, and getting strong, lean, ripped and in great condition is much more challenging, still, I have no excuses, and get it done. Lead from the front, represent, make it happen, no matter what.
Tonight, I trained for about 20 minutes with only a few hours of sleep in me. If I waited for the day that I had 8 hours sleep, all my meals in place and perfect weather then I would never “get it done”.
I took home two olympic dumbbell handles as well, adding to my collection of Kettlebells.
The basics will be covered with just these two simple tools. No worries, I’ll easily add some stones, playground workouts, calisthenics and plenty of sprints to this simple yet brutally effective mix.
What will you be doing when the often “not the right time” comes around?
In Strength,

PS – If all you had was One Kettlebell, you could still get in ass kicking workouts by adding calistehnics and anything else mother nature could offer you and you could find. Our results prove this, because it’s what we have done for years on end!
PPS – I’ll uncover every angle of my simple, no frills training methods at The Gladiator Seminar. Are you in? Space is filling up and time is running out.

With the busy times hitting me hard, there is no fear. Most people would give up and skip workouts entirely.
I’m simply gonna grab a little piece of my 2 car garage back. It used to be filled entirely with gym equipment, all my Underground tools. Now that I own a gym, my wife took it over
I have a few Kettlebells in there now, and will bring an old curling bar to the garage and 2 olympic dumbbells so I can load them up with 25 lb plates for some heavy duty Underground Bodybuilding.
Now, you might be wondering why the heck I’ll be using a curl bar?

Wow, today’s workout was bad ass. It was a mix of indoor and outdoor training. Th cold weather really hits the lungs and I miss that feeling which I experienced back in the day of my nightly winter runs during wrestling season.
That was in the early 90′s, and that was also when Rocky IV was already out, why didn’t more of us learn from that movie?
The way he trained with stones, chopped wood, pushed sleds, ran through snowy mountains and performed pull ups on the wooden beams was impressive to the onlooker, but the majority of us still congregated to the traditional gym.
Still, in the traditional gym, we should have been working those BIG lifts like hang cleans and barbell rows and stayed away from the majority of the isolation exercises.
I unfortunately ran into a few guys who trained in this fashion back when I was wrestling.
