I believe in doing what you love, following your passion and making something happen from it. I believe in living my dreams, NOT dreaming my life. I wanted The USC cert to change people's lives, NOT just teach them about training athletes. Here's an inside look through the years of USC Certifications.... My first Underground Strength Coach Cert of 2011 is in Fort Faulderdale. 20 people can attend and since the cert is on sale now ($400 off) we've already have several sign ups. Sign … [Read more...]

Monday Motivation: “You Want Something, Go Get It, Period”
"You can't do that" "You're too old" "You're too young" "You've got no money" "That's too hard" "Nobody ever did that" "You're crazy" "Stop Dreaming" Let me tell you something. Many of the most successful people in the world were told some, all and MORE of the negative comments you just read above. Many had it worst off than You and I. They slept in their car, went bankrupt, lost their home, their family and / or their friends. I was very often told to quit, to not … [Read more...]
Monday Motivation: How Bad Do You REALLY Want It?
I am a highly motivated Coach. I feel this is a fault, perhaps not though? You can comment below and drop your thoughts as my mind wanders too much. I find myself louder, more aggressive and more intense than 99.9% of my athletes. I want them to train harder, rest less, move heavier weights. I sometimes wonder why I am so loud and excited and they seem so quiet. I try to calm down and let them take the wheel. I wait to see if they will have intrinsic motivation. A few are animals and show the … [Read more...]
Back to My Roots
I recently stopped at my parent's pad to get some "work" done before tearing it up at The Underground Strength Gym. This is where it ALL began, training athletes and training myself from my parents home. I began my journey as a strength coach and eventually a warehouse gym owner right HERE. I had a few pieces of equipment I snagged from the newspaper classifieds, the local playgrounds and the stones in my parents backyard. Sounds simple but damn did this basic training produce powerful … [Read more...]
How to Become a BadAss Strength Coach
I get tons of e mails asking me what to do with regards to starting their own warehouse gym and getting that kick ass vibe happening. I wrote a HARSH article on Running a Warehouse Gym and pissed off many people in the process. There is NO simple answer to exactly how to do it. But, there are certainly a few tips I can dish out. - Be patient, yet Hustle your ass off! Success will not happen overnight, but, EVERY DAY you need to do at least ONE proactive thing to improve your training … [Read more...]

Man, it's AWESOME to see those putting to use what they've learned during Underground Strength Coach Mentorship Courses. Check out my boys from The UK, Zoran Dubaic and Sean Keefe. They sent me their opening highlight video and some good words and I am BIG time honored. I LOVE seeing people following their passion and achieving their dreams! They just opened their gym a few weeks ago, check the video below.... Pretty damn awesome, if ya ask me :) And here is some footage of Sean, Zoran and … [Read more...]
How to Kick Ass in Life AND a Warehouse Gym
There are those who "Get it" and those who simply don't "Get it". Some struggle with how to train athletes, having no system of their own, no time in the trenches and too much time on their ass sitting in front of a computer and in the books, NO Real World application. Some try opening their business and quickly crumble and fall out of "business". Some see adversity and cower away, while others stare it straight in the eyes and keep charging. Some have a laundry list of excuses and very few … [Read more...]
Days of Thunder Bodybuilding…..
It was September of 1994. I was training at a now defunct gym, it was legit "hardcore", called Dynamic Fitness. Such a shame that it had to end, but it did. I'll never forget that gym. It shaped me and inspired me for a lifetime..... My friend and aspiring pro bodybuilder was there catching a workout and I told him of my plans to compete in a bodybuilding show for 1995. He said "Train with me, I'm doing the Jersey in April and we can train together". I was psyched! Andy was a freak. He was … [Read more...]
Dungeon Gyms are Heaven
Dave Draper said it best, "Dungeon Gyms are Heaven". Unfortunately, Dungeon Gyms are as rare a finding as is finding Sasquatch. Check the Video... Was that gym sweet or what? I never saw Joe D look so nervous, ha ha Sorry for the speedy tour, I had to get my ass back to Edison and open the doors to a HardCore Gym. Peace! --Z-- PS: Stay tuned, The Lost Secrets of Strength: The Biz Files are coming soon PPS: I am laying low on holding my own Underground Strength Mentorships in groups, … [Read more...]
